Baldur's Gate show leads will only begin work after The Last of Us.

HBO's answer to wrapping up The Last of Us TV show is to create another show based on the beloved game. Baldur's Gate takes place after the events of the third game. This means that some decisions can be formalized for the sake of the narrative. The fate of your companions, the Dark Urge route, and the path to saving the Emerald Forest. These are just some of the things showrunner Craig Mazin has to think about.

He'll need some time to figure out how to incorporate player decisions into the series, or if he'll address them at all. Since The Last of Us will likely end after the upcoming season, Mazin is probably too busy to think about Baldur's Gate right now. At least that's what HBO CEO Casey Bloys said.

It looks like HBO's Baldur's Gate will be a long time coming.

Kalak is on fire in Baldur's Gate 3.

Speaking with Radio Times, Bloys said Mazin will likely end The Last of Us with season 3, but “we always leave the door open.” As for Baldur's Gate, the showrunner said he's thinking about it, but thanks to The Last of Us, we don't know the details yet.

“I’m interested in everything Craig is interested in,” Bloys said of the Baldur’s Gate series. “Obviously he's deep into The Last of Us Season 3, but Baldur's Gate is what he brought to us. He's very passionate about it and he's thinking about it and we've talked about it, but he's going to focus on The Last of Us and come back to it. [Baldur’s Gate] “If I have more time.”
