It seems like every year, an unannounced video game remaster leaks in spectacular fashion. Last year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered had dozens of leaks containing actual images of the game ahead of its release, and this year, it looks like Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Remastered is that game.
There have been literally more than a dozen pieces of evidence pointing to a remaster so far, but we've just gotten another reveal that's probably the biggest so far. The official art book has appeared on Amazon.
Assassin's Creed art book listing appears on Amazon
Rumors about Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Remaster have been floating around for nearly three years. Since then, the game has hit the PEGI rating board, been tagged “announced” on the PlayStation Store, and its lead actor has said Ubisoft has threatened to sue him for dropping hints about a remaster. Amazon may have just given us the biggest hint yet as to when the game is scheduled to release, or at least if it ever will, with a new artbook listing.
Art/Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remaster Hardcover book listing appears from publisher Titan. Titan also publishes other art books such as Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.
Don't Expect a Black Flag Remake in the Next State of Play, Insider Reports
But “not too far”.
The Amazon page provides limited details about the book, but suggests it will be released on March 24th. Considering previous suggestions that the game was close to release, March 24th is likely the date. However, it is now known to have been withdrawn.
While we wait for Ubisoft to officially reveal the game, some details about the Assassin's Creed remake have surfaced, especially due to studio closures, employee layoffs, and cancellation of games like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. It has been reported that there will be more than just a graphical overhaul, with the game ditching the modern aspects and replacing them with RPG elements seen in the latest Assassin's Creed games.
With all the uncertainty from Ubisoft, it's hard to say when a remaster will come out, but it's almost a certainty at this point. Let's hope the company doesn't become as callous as the Prince of Persia.
