If a Pokémon is holding a Soothing Bell, its happiness increase rate increases by 50%.
Friendship evolutions were introduced in Generation 2, and they all involve Generation 2 Pokémon. Because of this, friendship evolution is only possible after players unlock the National Pokedex at the end of the game. Pokemon Firered and Leafgreen. If you try to evolve a Pokémon through friendship before receiving the National Encyclopedia from Professor Oak, the evolution animation will trigger but will stop midway.
