All endings of Silent Hill 2 Remake

Replay value in games comes in many shapes and sizes. for silent hill In the series, Konami likes to add a lot of endings to the games. Silent Hill 2For example, there are six endings in the original game that Bloober Team kept intact in the remake, albeit with some modifications. We've also added two new endings for players to enjoy.

To reach these endings you will have to go through many hardships and basic information will be highlighted. However, this is not a guide, as this list instead evaluates and ranks the effectiveness of all eight endings in the remake. Silent Hill 2. Of course there will be spoilers.

7 UFO

Was James a clone?

• Direct Requirements: New Game+, find the Blue Gem, listen to its sound, and lead to a multi-level ending.

UFO endings have become a tradition in the Silent Hill series and are often intentionally poorly crafted. In this ending, James summons a UFO with a stone, after which things turn into a green silent movie with freeze frames. James sees another version of himself descending from the spaceship, who calls himself Space James and the entire real James. Earth James has been a clone from the beginning, and now Space James invites James back into space with typical alien life forms. It's definitely weird and not devoid of entertainment, but it's one of those things I wish had been made better for this remake.

6 stillness

• Direct Requirements: New Game+, you'll need the Chainsaw and the Key of Sorrow to start the quest inside the Lakeview Hotel that will lead to this ending.

Stillness is the name of this ending and it is both very simple and scary. James is sitting in his car at a rest stop where the player begins the game. He talks to Mary, and Mary starts talking again. Her hand then appears in the frame and other parts of Mary are visible throughout the ending, but her face is hidden throughout. First-time players will probably expect a jump scare at this point, but nothing sinister ever happens. James is just delusional and talking to his wife in the car.

5 in the water

• A few requirements: take a lot of damage, check key items like Mary's letter, read the note, and ignore Maria.

In Water is similar to Stillness, but this resolution may make players happier. The ending should be called Acceptance because it begins with James talking to Mary in his car, but admits that she isn't there. He looks at the back of his car and asks questions about it, preparing players for a jump scare.

But that doesn't happen again, and when the rain starts pouring down, things turn black and the lake is seen as letters happily gliding beneath the rays of light. Mary reads her letter and reveals that James knew all along that she was dead. It's a bittersweet ending, but beautiful in its simplicity nonetheless.

4 bliss

Home movies that can make you feel scared

• Direct Requirements: New Game+, obtain Rusty Key and Secret Note, follow directions, drink White Claudia, watch tape in James' room.

Happiness can be interpreted in many ways. It begins with James entering a room and putting a tape into the VCR. This game dates back to the late 90s or early 2000s. He watches as he films Mary trying to go home. As things wrap up, James gives the camera an odd look and dismisses Mary's concerns that something is wrong. The tape stops and things zoom out to the room where James disappeared. Maybe it's implied that James never left the house after picking up Mary, and that this was all a ruse. Or maybe the smile he gives the camera is an admission that James will kill Mary when he gets home. It's hard to say.

3 dog

Oh, it was a dog the whole time.

• Direct Requirements: New Game+, Find Parts to Craft Dog Key, Open Lakeview Hotel's Observation Room

The Dog ending is just as stupid as the UFO ending. However, thanks to the effort put into production, it ended up being a great ending. James will enter the control room and ask the person sitting in the chair to reveal himself. When they did so, it turned out that the dog had been controlling Silent Hill all along. James fell to his knees, unsure how to continue. Instead of acting maliciously, the dog walks up to James, licks him, and that's it. look at Silent Hill 2 One of the most oppressive and atmospheric horror games ever released. Players deserve a little levity with this bizarre ending.

2 maria

Sacrifice one love for another

• Requirements: Check key items such as Mary's letter, listen to Mary's words, and protect Mary.

Maria ends up being a positive ending of sorts, depending on how the player sees it. It begins with James confronting the physical manifestation of Mary, who is bitter about leaving him to die. She then transforms into a monster and a boss battle ensues, with the player having to finish her off one last time. Her death allows James to go back and save Maria.

He is now willing to let go of Mary and move on with a new woman. On the way back to the car, Maria starts coughing and James tells her that they need to look the part. Could it be that Mary was infected with the virus that ultimately caused Mary's illness? There's a lot to unpack here, but even if it's okay for James to mentally let go of Mary, going back with her betrays him a bit.

1 rebirth

Summon the Old Gods

• Direct Requirements: Requires the following items: New Game+, Tome of Crimson Ritual, White Relic, Obsidian Goblet, Tome of Lost Memories, and must be played in Normal Mode.

Reincarnation begins with a similar scene to Mary, but with a twist. James tells this “Mary” that he knows she is Mary. She tried to seduce him into unfaithfulness or to sell his soul to some extent. Maria acknowledges this and the same boss battle begins. Afterwards, James rows out to the middle of the lake and talks to Maria about the Old Gods and their ability to bring her back. We can infer that James planned to kill Mary, put her body on a ship, and then sacrifice her to the ancient gods to bring her back to life. It's a bit twisted for James, who still can't let go of his thoughts about Mary, but it's interesting to see him rowing into the darkness.

Is this the true canon ending?

• A few requirements: Don't look at key items like Mary's letters, don't read a lot of notes that aren't relevant to the puzzle, heal often, and ignore Mary when possible.

Leave is the ending that brings all the pieces together. James confronts Mary's death in two cruel ways. The first is through a series of boss fights, and the second is seeing Mary in her sick state. It also concerns Laura, a young girl whose story is left on a cliffhanger if the player does not get this ending.

All in all, this is what many people think is the true ending. To some extent, the catharsis the player will experience is not a happy ending. However, since the game was created in a vacuum, there will never be a truly “true” ending unless Konami or the Bloober team does the work of Square Enix. Silent Hill 2-2.
