A man has been charged with murder after the body of a woman was found inside a burnt-out house in suburban Adelaide.

The blaze broke out in the house in Barracoota Crescent, Aldinga, 45km from the city’s CBD, about 3.25pm on Friday.

Emergency services arrived to find thick black smoke pouring from the house.

Once the blaze was extinguished, authorities found the body of 38-year-old Krystal Marshall.

Her ex partner, Anastasia Marshall, who still lived at the property, told 9 News she had been going to collect one of the former couple’s two children from school when she saw smoke pouring out of the house.

Crying outside the home, she told reporters: “We weren’t together but we never got divorced, but we were together for 11 years before that.”

Tragically, two dogs and a cat were pulled from the burning home, with Good Samaritans not realising Ms Marshall was inside.

Following police investigations, a 48-year-old man was arrested just after 10pm on Saturday and charged with murder.

He was refused bail and will appear at Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday October 23.

Police have not confirmed the cause of the fire

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
