After spending 130 hours in the Crimson Desert, I needed one more feature than anything else.

I have now spent approximately 130 hours. crimson desertAnd I think I could still get hundreds more if I really wanted to. In fact, I definitely do. And I'm thinking of giving it a try. I admit this game has problems. But honestly, it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life because I can't get enough of the world of this game. I've played a lot of open world games these days, but I've never seen anything quite like this. crimson desertIt's a place where I can interact with almost everything I see, and there always seems to be a new discovery to stumble upon. But despite all the praise, there's one feature I'm willing to try: transmogrification.

Transmog may feel like a trivial feature to some, but to others it's a game changer. From my perspective, being able to change your character's appearance without being forced to change their gear means you can stay immersed in the game, especially during cutscenes, and as shallow as it sounds, it means you can have a cool looking character. but crimson desertTransmogrification would go much further than that, as it could at least partially solve one of the game's biggest problems. In fact, this is one of the first times I've thought transmogrification would give the game more than just customization options and actually target what I consider to be flaws in the design.

Crimson Desert Review: A Stunning Open World That Often Asks Too Much

Crimson Desert offers one of the most impressive worlds in gaming, but the deeper you go, the more it demands to be encountered in its own way.

Transmog will make one of the Crimson Desert's biggest problems less of a problem

First of all, there are tons of armor sets and pieces. crimson desertConsidering the sheer size of the game, this makes sense. You can obtain them from boss battles, purchase them from merchants, or even obtain them as reputation rewards. But more importantly, each has unique, detailed features. Transmogrification will certainly complement that versatility. After looting a piece of armor, you have the ability to change its appearance into another piece (similar to the transmogrification system below). hogwarts legacyFor example, it would be nice especially if: crimson desertLimited inventory and player storage space.

Abyss artifacts are the real reason transmogrification makes sense

But the real reason transmogrification is important is crimson desert This is due to how much the game relies on Abyss Artifacts for stats, skills, and equipment progression. It's been known for some time that players need to acquire Abyss Artifacts to power up their characters, but what wasn't clear (at least to me) until I played it was that they needed to upgrade their gear beyond a certain tier. In particular, if you want to upgrade your equipment further after improving it to level 4, you will need to use valuable Abyss artifacts, which are also needed to upgrade your character's stats and skills.

First of all, this might not be a problem if you don't have three playable characters. crimson desert They don't share anything other than their stats and certain basic skills. This means that if you want to get the most out of any of the game's characters other than Kliff, you'll need to spend a significant number of Abyss Artifacts on each character to get them on par with where Kliff would naturally be. crimson desertof story content and ultimately have better skills. That's why I don't really want to spend Abyss Artifacts on gear I'm not going to use long term.

The real reason transmogrification is important crimson desert This is due to how much the game relies on Abyss Artifacts for stats, skills, and equipment progression.

And there is another, perhaps more pressing problem. Because there are various armors and sets. crimson desertIt doesn't really make sense to invest precious Abyss artifacts to upgrade beyond a certain point. Because when you find something better, you tend to replace it. If you unlock the crafting system in the main story, you can use Abyss cores to make a single piece of equipment more powerful, but this not only applies to gear that you've already closed an Abyss socket for, but it also doesn't help ensure that your character's appearance is exactly what you want.

This is something I especially notice with gear I get through . crimson desert's reputation system is actually some of the weakest gear in the game, but it's also some of the coolest gear. Earning enough reputation points to spend on that gear is already time consuming, so there's little point in focusing on that gear or spending those points after you get it. Simply because at that point you would likely have found better equipment anyway. But what if you just want to have that look without wearing the equipment? if crimson desert If there was a transmogrification system, you wouldn't have any problems grinding and eventually purchasing that gear. It's just that I like the way it looks for the most part, but I don't necessarily want to wear it.

reputation crimson desert They are local, and can be obtained by completing certain parts of the main story, doing side quests for villagers, and even giving money to beggars.

Abyss Artifacts can be obtained through a variety of means in the game, including finding them in the open world, unlocking them by solving puzzles, randomly dropping them after defeating a certain number of enemies, and obtaining them as quest rewards. It makes them sound rich, and they are. But the skills and stats are crimson desert Starting with requiring only one Abyss Artifact, it becomes increasingly more expensive to unlock as you increase the requirement up to four and beyond. That's ultimately what makes them so valuable. Not because they are rare, but because they are very important for character development.

Ultimately, the tension between the value of Abyss Artifacts and how ephemeral most gear feels is maintained. crimson desert It fails to fully utilize its own depth. The transmogrification system won't overhaul your progress or suddenly make every decision easier, but it will eliminate the hesitation that comes with investing in something that's likely to be replaced soon. At least that would give me a reason to care more about power or style for any armor I found. crimson desertWhat really matters in the long run is incredible diversity.
