There are no initial signs that players' personal information was stolen in this apparent hack against Nintendo, but the hackers are claiming they stole over 570GB of company data.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has passed a major sales milestone, with the company announcing that it has sold more than 2.4 million units in the U.S. alone in its first three months of release. New claims from hacker group Crimson Collective seem to indicate that its members have digitally infiltrated Nintendo's files and stolen tons of undisclosed information. Nintendo has yet to officially confirm this possible breach, but a social media post shared an image of what appears to be dozens of file folders with titles indicating they contain assets, production and preview information, stress test data, and more. The group cheekily shared the image with the caption, in part: “Who said we don't have Nintendo themed files?”, indicating that the group may now hold sensitive information about the upcoming Nintendo game. Crimson Collective has previously been credited with data breaches on AWS clouds, such as those used by Red Hat and Claro Colombia, and also claimed defacement of a Nintendo website in September.
If confirmed, this would likely be the most notable data breach Nintendo has experienced directly in more than five years. In April 2020, Nintendo confirmed that hackers compromised Nintendo Network IDs connected to the Nintendo eShop through Wii and 3DS devices, compromising the accounts of more than 160,000 users. The data stolen in the breach did not include user passwords or payment information, but it was enough to push the company to push for higher online safety standards, including two-factor authentication.
Most recently, Game Freak's data breach was the most damaging. pokemon Franchise history leaked. Game Freak didn't confirm the successful hacking attempt until several months later, although it reportedly took place in August 2024.
