Initial D It follows Takumi Fujiwara, a teenage boy who drives an old Toyota AE86 and joins the world of illegal street racing in the mountains of Gunma Prefecture. Despite driving an old car, Takumi is skilled enough to beat faster cars. Aside from the thrilling races and amazing drifting scenes, the anime adaptation is also notable for incorporating a lot of Eurobeat music into its soundtrack, leading to a niche group of fans who appreciate this musical aspect.
MF Ghost takes place a few years later, Several characters from the original cartoon appear. It follows Takumi's student Kanata Rivington as she participates in street racing.
