Emergency responders have recalled the horrifying screams they heard after arriving at the scene of a “horrific” crash that claimed the lives of three young people in NSW.
Emergency crews were called to an intersection in Tarrago, about 40km south of Gulliver, after reports that a Hyundai SUV had left the roadway, rolled over and ended up on its roof in a nearby lawn.
The 20-year-old male driver escaped the wreckage, but three passengers, a man and two women from the NSW south coast, were trapped in the car. All three died at the scene.
The group were said to be heading home from Canberra after attending a 21st birthday party on Sunday afternoon. Daily Mail report.
One of the first responders told the publication that he began performing CPR as soon as he arrived on the scene.
“When police arrived at the scene, the boy and girl were already out of the car,” said a woman who declined to be named. Daily Mail.
“We tried CPR on them, but it didn't work. It was horrible.”
According to the respondent, the driver was yelling for help for his girlfriend who was trapped in the car.
“I can still hear him screaming,” she recalled.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Canberra Hospital. Police said he would undergo mandatory blood tests.
He remained hospitalized in stable condition as of Tuesday morning. Daily Mail report.
No one has been charged yet.

“Every fatality that police come across is shocking,” said Inspector Bradbury.
A specialist accident investigator assigned to the Southern Region Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation.
