The Pokémon Trading Card Game's 30th Anniversary Set will be the best ever. The Pokémon Company slowly began to flow. We're revealing information about this, including the entire product lineup, which is already priced at up to 7x RRP.And a variety of new cards.
The expansion includes 30 Pikachu subsets created by various artists across the TCG, reprints of some existing cards with new borders, including the infamous Paldea Evolved Magikarp, Gengar Prime in the Heartgold Soulsilver Triumphant, and Crystal Lugia in Aquapolis, as well as a variety of other cool new cards.
There are many interesting points. But one card is causing an uproar as it starts leaking online. Along with the new FUR rarity type, there will reportedly also be an RGB rarity. One of the cards boasting this rarity is Mew, which caused a major rift in the Pokémon TCG community.
The Mew RGB rare is said to have been taken from the live streaming opening. That's because a few collectors managed to get their hands on the 30th Anniversary product well ahead of the expansion's September release. The new rarity looks similar to the FUR rarity, except with a lot less personality.
The example we saw featured a green Mew embossed on a dark blue background. It looks similar to Victini from Black Bolt and White Flare, except it's much less attractive, and splits the TCG community in two.
Half are convinced that the cards aren't real, and that their appearance on the livestream from which they were drawn was faked.
“It’s fake as hell,” petewoniowa2020 said in one Reddit thread. “No stamps included. No copyright information included. Textures are clear and have printing issues. Border colors do not match the set. It is clear the artist is creating fan art.” While some were quick to try to counter the poster's views, many had a shared opinion. xSEARLEYx said: “It’s really fake and looks terrible,” while Legal-Treat-5582 added, “This seems to be one of the popular fake cards.”
On the other side of the coin are those who believe the cards are real but simply hate them. I think this is where I fall.
“Let the scalpers fight over this,” said Bitter-Fee2788. “Damn, this is one of the ugliest TCG cards I’ve ever seen.” One Reddit user pointed out that the colors were reversed, with Mew's pink turning green and the gold background turning blue, but that wasn't enough to convince haters of the card.
“My immediate reaction was, ‘Uuuuu!’” read one comment, while another added: “Yeah, my first reaction was that it's kind of ugly.”
I wouldn't complain if I pulled it out, especially since it's a decent value in today's market. However, in my humble opinion, this is one of the worst Pokemon cards of all time.
