Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner was recently asked about his involvement in Kingdom Hearts, and revealed he had no idea why he said yes.
In all of gaming, no series is as miraculous as Kingdom Hearts. I'm not even saying that as a very biased megafan who loves Sora and the gang more than some real people. Kingdom Hearts is actually exists The crossover between Disney and Square Enix is a miracle in itself.
We've all heard the story about Kingdom Hearts being introduced in an elevator. But getting this series off the ground and getting Disney on board required a lot more effort. Michael Eisner was the CEO of the company when Kingdom Hearts was created, and he had to approve it, but he apparently didn't even approve it. remember series.
Michael Eisner has no idea why he said yes to Kingdom Hearts.
Another reason you're lucky to have Sora
As Kotaku points out, Game File's Stephen Totilo recently had the opportunity to attend a conference about Delphi, a company that Eisner joined as an investor and which has burst onto the gaming scene. But instead of focusing on that, Totilo had the brilliant idea of asking Eisner if he remembered the greenlighting of Kingdom Hearts.
To this, Eisner responded with a rather blunt “no”, and Totilo told him that he had played in Tokyo and explained what the series was about. It sparked Eisner's memory enough to know what Kingdom Hearts was, but when asked if he remembered why he said yes to the series, Eisner simply said no and seemed to drop out of the conversation.
Totilo points out that he should have shown Eisner a picture of Sora holding the Keyblade to help him remember. But it's clear that Eisner hasn't exactly thought about the series in the 24 years since its release. To be fair, it's been almost 30 years since its release, but this is another interesting indication of the story of how Kingdom Hearts came to be.
