Throughout the roughly 30-hour runtime for the campaign, it continued to throw curveballs at me, and revelations about Paintless and other characters' actual roles in events left me speechless. To that end, it's a fresh and dynamic take on turn-based combat (there are some important skills you'll need to prioritize to excel), and it's a title that fans of the genre among Nintendo players will certainly appreciate the chance to play on their preferred system. But to me, there are even more reasons why this game could be a good potential partner for the Switch 2.

Its structure is well suited for combined docking/undocking play. During my PS5 playthrough, there were some sessions where I spent hours digging up secrets in larger areas (and practicing fending off different enemy types, because I was really bad at it until I started focusing on getting my timing right), while other sessions involved sitting in front of a specific expedition flag for about an hour, tweaking ability loadouts, coming up with new combat strategies, and trading Pictos. The versatility of Nintendo consoles will fit you like a glove.

Of course, a potential Switch 2 port doesn't mean everyone will be able to play it in portable mode. I personally don't dock my system at all, but there are many people who rarely remove their systems from their cozy slots at home. Even for Switch 2 owners who don't care about the portability aspect, having your games released as a hybrid would still be a huge advantage. In the end it's a near-perfect console, but all the great games help.
