My Chemical Romance have just completed the UK leg of The Black Parade 2026 Tour. It received rave reviews from attendees, including our colleague Josh Coulson here at TheGamer.
While the band performed at London's Wembley Stadium last night, a fan held up a sign asking MCR frontman Gerard Way if he had played their 2023 hit Baldur's Gate 3. Way eventually saw the sign and took a short break after the performance to discuss with the audience the history of Baldur's Gate and why he never played the third game.
MCR's Gerard Way has never played Baldur's Gate 3, but loved the first game.
TikTok user Katana Luciana shared a photo from the pre-MCR autograph session on the social media platform. “Gerard, have you played Baldur’s Gate 3?” The video then shows lead singer Way's interaction with Luciana and the audience.
Way interacts with the audience as other band members draw attention to the sign. “No, I’ve only played Baldur’s Gate 1,” he said to loud cheers. “I probably didn't like 2 or 3. I played the Icewind Dale expansion but didn't have enough time. That's a disgusting sign.
“Do you know why we answered that way? Because we had no intention of writing anything like that.” He goes on to ask, “Have you played Baldur’s Gate 3?” The crowd's cheers grow louder. He then responded, “Is it good? I think so. The first one was really fun. You know, it was the closest thing to playing D&D at the time.”
He then said he thought the band should play another song before returning to the conversation. “Not everyone played, right? Just these two. Actually, I think they sold a lot.” He asked, “Are these motherfuckers playing Baldur’s Gate 3?” The loudest in the chat.
This game has been one of the biggest games of the past few years and has truly penetrated the cultural zeitgeist, as evidenced by this conversation. Although I can't name Gerard Way as one of my fans. yet, Baldur's Gate 3 also has other celebrity nods. Singer Billie Eilish, actresses Felicia Day and Chloe Grace Moretz, and director The Duffer Brothers have all shared a love of the game.
