10 games receiving renewed attention due to recent gaming news

Given how tight this year's release schedule is already, it's easy to see why some players are focusing their attention on the hottest, newest, and trendiest games. But there are still plenty of people here who are spending time revisiting some classic games this year!

There are many reasons to think this game has suddenly become popular once again. But regardless of why fans are going back to classic video games, we totally agree! No matter what, there's always so much to enjoy when you revisit an old favorite!

god of war

With a huge surge in retro games along with pending changes to how you get games on PlayStation, this exclusive series has seen quite a resurgence in popularity recently. Whether you're replaying the original series on your PS2 or running around with Boy in later series, God of War has plenty of replay value.

We imagine this surge may have stemmed from the June 2026 announcement of God of War: Laufey, an upcoming title that stars Atreus' mother Laufey as she navigates the underworld of the gods in a game that runs concurrently with the events of the 2018 title. It's scheduled for release sometime in 2027, giving you plenty of time to go back and enjoy the original.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Whether you're craving a dark journey across the continent, trying to get one of the game's alternate endings, or just love a good game of Gwent, there are plenty of reasons to return to Geralt of Rivia while playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

We're still waiting for the fifth and final season of Netflix's live-action adaptation of the game. But in the meantime, there is plenty to do on the continent. This is especially true if you've never played a DLC pack for a popular title from 2015.

What started out in 2015 as a small indie game about a kid who falls underground and must fight his way back to the surface has quickly become one of the most beloved titles in the genre.
