Gods that are much stronger than Kratos in God of War

In the iconic scene where Kratos leaps over Zeus, he exorcises the evil that led him to betray Zeus and his father stops fighting back. Yes, Kratos killed Zeus, but it's fair to say that in a one-on-one fight and without outside help, Zeus would take down his son pretty easily.

The final god who kills Kratos is somewhat surprising. Charon. No one expected the Boatman of the River Styx to be powerful enough to throw the God of War into Tartarus, but he did just that. He also works incredibly fast. Sure, Kratos doesn't know the boss fight gimmick yet, but it's still a pretty shocking moment to see a (seemingly) frail old man in a mask completely dominate Kratos.

Of course, Kratos eventually gets out of Tartarus. He then returns to the River Styx and gives Charon his own beatings, but not before acquiring the Gauntlets of Zeus and being unable to destroy the pillars that restore Charon's health. Again, Kratos is eventually able to kill Charon, but he needs special tools to do it, and without them he's not strong enough to win. The same can be said for many bosses. god of war franchise, but none of them have gotten rid of Kratos in return. As with other examples here, Kratos eventually kills Baldur, but only after removing the latter's curse and rendering him mortal. If Baldur and Kratos continue their fight from the beginning of the game until one of them dies, it probably won't be the end of Baldur, but rather the end of Kratos.

Hercules

Hercules There is a bone to pick. In his mind, Zeus favors Kratos over himself, sending Kratos to kill Ares and giving Hercules arbitrary feats of strength to overcome. While Kratos searches for Zeus, Hercules decides to teach his half-brother a lesson while a drunken Hera looks on with disdain. Kratos tears off some of Hercules' armor and even destroys his helmet, but one slam from the Nemean Cestus stuns Kratos to the point where he briefly loses consciousness.

At that moment Hercules could have easily finished him off. Kratos is dazed, blinded, and unable to defend himself, let alone fight back. Unfortunately, Hercules instead decided to spend his time gloating to Hera about how Kratos was “trembling.” This gives the god of war enough time to come up behind Hercules, stab him in the side, take the Nemean Cestus for himself, and rejoin the fight. Surprisingly, Hercules retains his strength even without weapons or armor, nimbly dodging Kratos' swings and delivering powerful blows with his bare fists. In the end, it was once again his pride that held him back. Hercules intends to turn the entire stadium upside down and make it fall down Mount Olympus. Instead, Kratos uses the arena floor to pin Hercules underneath him and then beats him to death with his own gauntlets.
