Pokemon Pokopia DLC Teases New Details

Pokemon Pokopia is getting an expansion pass later this year, and some of the DLC coming to the game has been teased thanks to new artwork shared by retailers. Pokopia was released for Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year, and it is the first exclusive Pokemon game on the platform.

Pokemon Pokopia's DLC was revealed in a recent Nintendo Direct, where several details were offered about Bubbly Basin. The first part of the expansion pass will give Ditto the ability to use Dive, and players will be able to build locations underwater as a result. That content will be arriving in August, while part two will arrive later in 2026, with the final part coming in 2027. Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have shared little information about the other DLC packs, thus far.

New Pokopia Art Teases Future Content

Fans have to wait until August for the Pokemon Pokopia DLC, but the expansion pass is now available for purchase at various retailers. New art has accompanied these retail listings, highlighting Pokopia's addition of Manaphy and Popplio, as well as Ditto's dive ability. However, the art also has a tease for future content, which shows Snubbull and Peakychu. Snubbull has not been officially announced for the game, but what's more interesting is that both Pokemon can be seen wearing different clothing items.

In the art, Snubbull can be seen wearing a yellow bow tie, while Peakychu has a white pair of wings on its back and some kind of hat. This is already leading to speculation that players will be able to dress up the Pokemon in their games following the DLC's release. Costumed Pokemon have been part of Pokemon GO for years, and dressed-up Pikachu has been shown for Winds and Waves. It wouldn't be surprising if Pokopia's DLC allowed players to acquire clothing items and customize their residents, as it seems like the kind of thing that would interest a lot of players.

More information about the DLC should be revealed over the coming months, possibly in future Nintendo Direct presentations. Since Pokemon Winds and Waves won't be coming out until 2027, it seems Nintendo and The Pokemon Company will continue to lean on Pokopia in the meantime. The expansion pass should keep players invested in Pokopia while they wait for the next mainline entry in the series, and that could help it continue to generate interest through the holiday season.

Mainline Pokemon games tend to sell very well, but not every spin-off finds nearly as much success. There have been plenty of games that haven't generated as much attention, but Pokopia has been a big success story in 2026. The game has been bought by more than four million players, making it one of the best-selling games on the platform. Nintendo clearly sees the game as a system seller, as Pokopia is now being offered in a bundle with Switch 2.
