So far, early press has been incredibly positive, suggesting the film could be one of the best movies of 2026. Although it was clearly a secondary enterprise for him, Spielberg still etched his name into gaming history. medal of honorThe first few entries ranked among the best World War II games of all time. He also technically played a part in the 1983 crash because Atari seriously overestimated its thirst for cars. alien ET Video games.
Speaking of video games based on Spielberg movies, we've received quite a few over the decades, but none of them seem to leave a lasting impression. Considering the director's wide appeal and the diversity of his filmography, surely there are some really good games out there? surely.
standard: The game must be a direct adaptation of a movie or a sequel to a franchise produced by Steven Spielberg.. for example, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle It doesn't qualify because the IP was created by George Lucas. That said, I included two exceptions:
honorable mention Minority Report: Everyone Runs For ragdoll physics. The rest of the game is fine, but the beatdown combat was an odd choice for the source material.

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn
Passable but not much more
The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn
- released
-
October 20, 2011
Probably one of the most forgotten Spielberg games. The Adventures of Tintin is mostly an average movie tie-in game from the early 2010s. That means a short campaign, periodically rough visuals, interesting but not fully fleshed out ideas, and rushed production. It is mainly a 2.5D platform game, The Adventures of Tintin It doesn't shine in any one area, but it also doesn't fail in any area that makes it stand out.
The platform is solid and responsive, but too easy to really remember. Tintin's brief combat benefits from its sporadic use. This helps break things up a bit. Unfortunately, Haddock's sword fight parts are surprisingly bad, even compared to Tintin's fight sequences. The vehicle section looks good, but that's about it. There's no real reason to play this game, but if you like the movie and pick it up, you'll have a pretty good time.

Finally, we can move beyond the “well, it could be worse” section and actually talk about some solid games. It seemed like every moderately successful movie in the SNES and Genesis era got half a dozen adaptations, about 5% of which are worthless these days. It's probably not the first release that comes to mind, but hook It does an impressive job of translating the charm and magic of the film.
The SEGA CD version includes John Williams' score, but the SNES and Genesis versions incorporate it very well considering its limitations. In terms of gameplay, the core platforming is fairly typical for its era, but is occasionally enhanced by a flight system that allows you to zoom through vertical levels. This mechanic might not seem all that great these days, but it was really cool in 1992.

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
Living up to impossible standards
Adapted from the original trilogy, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure came right after star wars The game proved that this formula could be applied across the franchise. These days, Indy's antics tend to be considered lesser items on the LEGO resume, but that's only because of the sequel, which was underwhelming and unnecessary compared to the first release.
Unsurprisingly, the action-adventure, which is an adaptation of three of the best action-adventure movies of all time, features top-notch set pieces and lets you play out all the famous scenes from the source material. As is the case with Lego games, cooperative play is also great.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (Arcade Game)
The best games based on Spielberg movies
-
Year of release: 1997
-
Developer/Publisher: Sega
I miss rail shooters. Sure, they still exist in arcades, but you rarely get anything new. What's worse is that most classic games were never ported to consoles, leading to obscurity or even death. The Lost World: Jurassic Park This arcade masterpiece is a prime example, as its Dreamcast port has disappointingly all but disappeared since it first entered development.
By far, this shooting game is the best game based on a Steven Spielberg movie. As with all '90s rail shooters, the graphics were jaw-droppingly good for the era and still impress decades later. Instead of sticking to the standard formula for the most part, Gunfight chooses to rely on large-scale set pieces that go beyond what defines a blockbuster film. If you find a way to play this, give it a try.
