First introduced in one piece In Chapter 138 of Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 27, June 5, 2000, Hitohitonomi is one of the most amazing Devil Fruits belonging to the Joan class. This Devil Fruit debuted with the Straw Hat Pirates' Doctor Tony Tony Chopper, but over the years, its variety and subtypes have grown in importance. This fruit gained new importance as the following key facts were revealed: one piece Hitohitonomi Episode 1044 Model Nika is Luffy Gomu Gomu no Mi's real name and God Fruit.
In the final story, especially the climax of the Elbaf Arc, Hito Hito no Mi becomes more important as Eiichiro Oda officially establishes a new type of this Devil Fruit that is scheduled to be released at the end of the story. This new fruit is Hitohitonomi (Model: Tzaza), a fruit with the name of a god and the ability to bring massive rain and floods.
One Piece Episode 1182, Hito Hitonomi, Model: Zaza officially established
one piece Chapter 1182 was officially published in the 24th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump on May 10, 2026, and this chapter was important for the overall knowledge surrounding the various types of Hito Hitonomi. When Eiichiro Oda first expanded Hito Hitonomi's subtype with Monkey D. Luffy's Nika Fruit in Issue 17 of Weekly Shonen Jump, March 28, 2022, I was fascinated and imagined the possibilities it set up. After its release, while watching One Piece Chapter 287 released on August 11, 2003 in Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump Issues 37-38, I and many fans immediately saw the potential for many other Hitohitonomi Devil Fruits that grant the power of gods.
“God of the sun, god of rain, god of the forest, god of the earth, please receive this woman’s blood and save our village from disaster.” — Elder Shandien from One Piece Episode 287
Finally, Eiichiro Oda made this possibility a reality in the final series with the latest reveal of Rain God Zaza in series episode 1182. Tzu Chi is a very powerful divine being with power that cannot be compared to anyone else in the world. It debuted via Killingham's MMA, and now all of its MMAs are powered by the Akuma no Mi ability from Omen of Nerona Imu. Once Killingham was able to summon the rain god Zaza, Eiichiro Oda revealed to us a very important legend from a bygone era surrounding this god.
“It appears to the tune of praying for rain…Jaja, the god of rain!” — Saint Killingham, One Piece Episode 1182
In One Piece 1182, Oda confirms that all celestial dragons are afraid of Zaza, the rain god, because they pour down rain and bring downpours to the people in the lower world. The idea of the Celestial Dragons is to exist above the clouds, so you don't have to worry about rain or other natural disasters that you can't control. To them, the existence of Jaja, the true rain god, is a huge threat.
More importantly, the story of the Rain God Zaza among the gods present in Marijoa means that this god was once greatly feared on the same level as the sun god Nika. This is confirmed once again in Chapter 1182. This also means that somewhere in the world, Hito Hito no Mi (model: Zaza) sleeps waiting for the right person to come and eat it.
“We were born higher than the rain clouds. Water falling from the sky? It’s a mysterious fear! After the D and Nika people, the most common thing that warned us was the boogeyman… In the underworld, a monster called the Rain God is spraying water over our heads!” — Saint Killingham, One Piece Episode 1182
As in the case of Hito Hito no Mi (model: Nika), the Zaza fruit has its own will and the name of a god. All Joan Devil Fruits are only given to someone who is a perfect match for them. The Nika Fruit was specifically kept out of the hands of the World Government because it was not for them. This fruit controlled its own fate and reached Monkey D.
Luffy ate that about 13 years ago. Likewise, the Zaza fruit has escaped every touch over the years and is now just waiting for the right person to eat it. The identity of this person has not been revealed yet, and I wonder who Oda will choose as the user of this devil fruit later.

One Piece sets up the battle of the Four Gods at the climax of the Elbaf Arc.
The climax of the One Piece Elbaf arc finally sees the four powerful gods face off in the biggest all-out war in the final story so far.
Zaza has the power to bring downpours and cause floods.
Regarding the abilities of the rain god Tzu Chi, Eiichiro Oda directly tells us what this god can do. Rain God Zaza is one of the most powerful gods that can exist in the world of One Piece, as he can bring down heavy rain and cause massive floods. In Episode 1183 of One Piece, the 26th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, which was officially released on May 24, 2026, the rain god Zaza appeared, pouring a huge amount of rain on the western village of Elbaf. This part of Elbaf was already drowning in the previous chapter, but episode 1183 gave fans a glimpse of how bad the situation really was, with the majority already submerged in the water.
“Summers, I screwed up! I summoned the wrong one! What I'm afraid of is… I was too eager!” — Saint Killingham, One Piece Episode 1182
Additionally, it should be kept in mind that in the end, Killingham's version of Rain God Zaza is just an MMA entity created with the power of Ryu Ryu no Mi (Model: Kirin). The power of the real rain god Tzu Chi is likely many times greater than that, which tells us that the real rain god could easily flood an entire country and control the rain.

Hitohitonomi model Zaza is the biggest weakness of devil fruit users.
By introducing the new Hitohitonomi model: Zaza, Eiichiro Oda has officially established himself as the nemesis of all Devil Fruit users in One Piece. Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza can cause massive amounts of rain, instantly filling terrain with massive amounts of water, as seen in Chapters 1182 and 1183. Considering the sheer size of this god and the amount of water it rains, it can essentially create enough water to completely flood a Devil Fruit user.
According to Oda himself, when more than half of their bodies are submerged in water, Devil Fruit users become incredibly weak and struggle to use their abilities, regardless of where the water comes from. Even bathing water can weaken a Devil Fruit user if they are completely submerged in the water. As such, Zaja, the rain god, has the power to completely nullify Devil Fruit abilities depending on the amount of water flooding the battlefield.
“Let's deal with the problem of 'powers' bathrooms. If a person eats a devil fruit, the sea rejects the person and the body becomes unable to swim. Here, 'sea' refers to a river, a puddle, a bathhouse… If the entire body is submerged in the “sea,” the effect is weakened. — Eiichiro Oda, SBS One Piece
If we look a little deeper, we can see why the celestial dragons fear Tzu Chi so much. This Devil Fruit has enough power to nullify Nero or Imu's Devil Fruit abilities. Imu's Akumanomi is overpowered, but even he cannot use his abilities when submerged in water. Therefore, it is clear to me and many others that this Devil Fruit has the potential to become one of the most powerful in the One Piece universe established by Oda.
It is not yet known who the user is, and it is highly likely that no one has ever tried this devil fruit before. In both cases, the Hito Hito no Mi model: Zaza will play an important role in the progression of the story, especially as the matchup approaches, and I can't wait to see what comes next.
