Pokemon GO Announcing the next season, Forever Forward, and providing some new details about what players can expect over the next three months. It's not a comprehensive picture of Forever Forward, but the first details confirm that exciting Super Mega Raids are on the way, new Dynamax Pokémon are hitting Power Spots, new Pokémon are hatching from a variety of eggs, and there are some changes to Daily Discoveries as well.
Forever Forward begins on June 2, 2026 and runs until September 8, 2026. This is a big season, as it includes this year's Pokemon GO Fest. While a direct version has already begun in Tokyo, Japan, and Chicago and Copenhagen versions are still underway, the global version of Pokemon GO Fest is scheduled for July 17th and 18th. This includes the Mega Mewtwo

Pokemon GO Fest 2026 Officially Adds Mega Mewtwo and More
After months of rumors, Niantic has confirmed that Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will finally be coming to Pokemon GO in the near future.
But we already knew about Pokemon GO Fest and everything that comes with it. It's still possible (read: hoped) that there will be a lead-up event similar to what we saw at GO Tour Kanto earlier this year, but Niantic has yet to confirm anything related to GO Fest. What are the core gameplay activities, and will the Pokemon GO Fest event be free to all players?
These are the earliest details yet, but here's what we know.
Super Mega Raid for the Forever Forward Season
This season's Super Mega Raids include Mega Skarmory and Mega Raichu X and Y. We already knew Mega Skarmory was likely coming after a leak, but this is the first confirmation that Mega Raichu X and Y are also coming. Niantic previously confirmed to GameRant that all future Mega Raid dates will include Super Mega Raids, so it's safe to assume that will be the case here as well.
As far as meta relevance goes, Mega Skarmory doesn't have much to offer, but Mega Raichu is what you'll be targeting on Raid Day. Mega Raichu Y in particular will be a version to keep an eye on, as it will be the best Electric-type striker in Pokémon GO once it's released. This puts it ahead of Shadow Raikou, the best Electric-type attacker overall, and Mega Manectric, the best Electric-type Mega.
Mega Mewtwo Y is not a bad electric-type attacker, but it has the strongest abilities as a psychic-type attacker. However, these crazy stats on Mega Mewtwo Y and X make it an excellent choice for almost any move type you can use.
New Dynamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO
Forever Forward introduces new Dynamax Pokemon during Max Mondays. These are:
-
Dynamax Electabuzz
-
Dynamax Magikarp
-
Dynamax Fee Bath
Unless there are some restrictions in Pokemon GO, this means that Dynamax Gyarados, Electivire, and Milotic will be available in the game. Niantic says there will be more to come, but this is all they're revealing for now. There will probably be at least one Gigantamax Max Battle Day during Forever Forward. However, there is usually a separate announcement.
Pokemon GO changes daily searches
Last season saw the introduction of Daily Discoveries, which are special events or bonuses that are activated every day. The two major changes are that Catch-Up Sunday will be replaced with a route-focused Scenic Sunday, and Showcase Tuesday will be expanded.
How does Scenic Sunday work?
On scenic Sundays, more Pokémon spawn along the route and the scent attracts more Pokémon. Buddy Candy progresses faster as you follow the path. And you can meet Mateo three times a day along the route where you exchange gifts with him.
Changes released Tuesday
Pokemon GO already expanded the number of PokéStops available for showcases last week, and this season players will be able to enter up to two showcases each Tuesday, for a total of five showcases. There's no word on any changes to the showcase format as far as new/returning categories, but the increase is a step in the right direction.
The main criticism of Showcase Tuesday is that it only focuses on certain types without sacrificing much diversity. You'll always see the same Pokémon winning showcases, like Origin Palkia for Water-Type or Weezing for Poison. I'd love to see Niantic revisit the Tuesday Showcase at some point during the season. The least you can do is expand the category. But increasing the number of Pokéstops featuring showcases and allowing players to enter more showcases is a sign that Niantic is listening.

As for Community Days, Pokemon GO has confirmed the dates for the next season version: June 20, July 4, and August 15. We don't yet know which Pokémon will appear during the three Community Days, but Pokémon GO has been teased for this weekend, June 20th.
This is just the beginning of Forever Forward.
Aside from these major highlights, Forever Forward will also be bringing small but much-lauded changes to Pokemon GO next season. There will be new Pokémon hatching from various eggs, new cups for GO Battle League, and new web store deals. Gimmighoul can also be seen in the promo art, so it's likely that a shiny version of the Pokémon will make its way into the seasonal event. Pikachu also appears, but without a costume, so who knows what that means?
Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg, as Forever Forward is expected to be a big season for Pokemon GO. While the game celebrates its 10th anniversary all year long with events like GO Tour Kanto and All-Out, GO Fest is the premier annual event, and Niantic has prepared a huge event.
But I'm most interested in what they haven't announced yet, like lead-up events for GO Fest and other surprises on the way. Heck, since GO Fest hasn't started yet, there could be some surprises like a Mega Dragonite drop from GO Tour.
