Fable is expected to release at some point this year, but there's no release date set yet. Considering GTA 6 is set for its own release in November, there's always talk that other 2026 releases will likely be delayed to avoid being left out of the conversation.
Now, Fable doesn't seem to be one of those games. As spotted on the Fable subreddit, the game has now been assessed to release in at least two regions: South Korea and Australia. This means there are enough games for the ratings board to look at, which bodes well that it's likely to get a 2026 release date soon.
Fable has been given an age rating despite not having a specific release date.
Surprisingly, Fable seems to be receiving mature reviews overall. This is consistent with previous major entries in the series. In the EU, another PEGI 16 rating is expected, but this has not yet been confirmed.
The age rating doesn't tell you much about the game. The Australian Ratings Board's note simply stated that Fable contained “violence” and “mature themes”, which were very similar to the original game.
If I had to guess, this probably means that “romance” works much the same in Fable as it did in previous games. This means that if you harass an NPC, it will go black with some interesting dialogue rather than explicit content.
But the most important thing here is that, if we're lucky, we'll get a concrete release date soon. This would make sense, as Take-Two has reaffirmed that GTA 6 will release in November, clearly leaving the months before that for other games. Developer Playground Games just released Forza Horizon 6, so it will soon be able to focus on marketing its other games.
Fable is currently scheduled for release this year. Available on Xbox, PC, and for the first time, PlayStation.
