Destiny 2's continued development has now reached its conclusion. Bungie has confirmed that the final update will be released on June 9, and that the game will not see any new content after that.

This brings Destiny 2 to an end after 12 years and rules out the possibility of a new expansion pack. This comes as Bungie continues to roll out its latest live service, Marathon, which hasn't had a particularly smooth launch.

“As our focus shifts to a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work on incubating our next game,” Bungie’s blog post reads. “To that end, we will begin a new journey as a studio by releasing Destiny 2’s final live service content update on June 9, 2026.

“Once active development is complete, we will continue to ensure that Destiny 2 is just as playable as Destiny 2 is today. Many of the changes in this final update will be aimed at ensuring that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to.”
