The Heretic Prophet Launches “In A Couple Of Years”, Actor Suggests

One of the lead actors in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Kumail Nanjiani, has claimed in a resurfaced that the game is going to launch “in a couple of years”.

It's hard to believe that we're getting closer and closer to two years since Naughty Dog's next big game, Intergalactic, was finally announced at The Game Awards. The brief reveal trailer introduced the game's world, set up the plot and some of its main players, and put a few people off with all the product placement, but sadly stopped short of any gameplay.

Since that reveal, many have wondered not only when we'd hear more about the game (my bet is at some point this year), but also when it was aiming to release. Neil Druckmann has made it pretty clear not to expect Intergalactic too soon, but some reports have made it sound like 2027 could be the right year for it, something that a resurfaced interview could support.

Kumail Nanjiani Said That Intergalactic Is Coming Out “In A Couple Of Years” Late Last Year

Late 2027 Or Early 2028? I Guess We'll Find Out

As pointed out by Insider Gaming, an interview with Kumail Nanjiani, who plays a character called Colin Graves in Intergalactic, on Deadline's Comedy Means Business podcast has recently made the rounds again on social media. In a clip shared by Twitter user DomTheBomb, Nanjiani very briefly talks about his role in the game.

As well as unsurprisingly saying that the game is going to be “really, really good”, Nanjiani notably claimed that Intergalactic would release “in a couple of years”. Initially, I thought this was a new interview and feared that meant 2028 at the earliest, but the podcast was actually back in late 2025 and only seems to be getting noticed now.

With that in mind, Nanjiani's claim could either point to a late 2027 release date or, considering the interview was done right at the end of the year, around early 2028. Similarly to Rockstar, Naughty Dog is known perfectionists, so it really will depend on when it sees fit and, considering recent reports of crunch for an internal demo, that doesn't seem to be any time soon.

It's going to be incredible, but it's going to be messy.
