Scuf Omega brings a premium, custom experience to PS5 and PC users

The DualSense controller has received notable improvements through firmware updates, but Sony and Scuf are teaming up to give users an officially licensed premium controller option. The Scuf Omega is available now globally through the Scuf website starting at $219. Along with the default layout of PS5 controller buttons that gamers have come to expect, Scuf Omega features 11 additional inputs that users can customize through the Scuf mobile app. These new inputs include four rear paddle buttons labeled P1 through P2, two side buttons near the R1 and L1 buttons, and five G-keys near the controller's 3.5mm headset jack. Three of the G keys are already labeled for audio controls, but can be adjusted via the Scuf app.

One of the unique features of the Scuf Omega controller is that it includes thumbsticks that use Tunneling Magneto Resistance (TMR) technology. Simply put, TMR thumbsticks are considered an upgrade to Hall effect thumbsticks. This is because Hall effect thumbsticks allow for more accurate input and consume less power than Hall effect thumbsticks. Scuf Omega comes standard with three pairs of detachable thumbsticks, allowing users to customize the left and right sticks independently. The Scuf Omega also uses Omron mechanical switches that allow for quick trigger response. The L2 and R2 buttons can also be customized with instant triggers to help users choose the right response for the game they are playing. Scuf Omega offers a 1,000hz polling rate on PC and up to 250hz on PS5 in both wired and wireless modes.

The Scuf Omega also comes with a USB-C cable, interchangeable plates for the side buttons, a USB wireless dongle, and a carrying case. Plus, orders over $75 on the Scuf website include free shipping. Along with PS5 compatibility, Scuf Omega also works with Windows and macOS devices via USB and Bluetooth connections. The price of the Scuf Omega may be higher than other controllers on the market, but PC gamers looking to play titles for a controller may consider the Scuf Omega as a viable option.
