Akatsuki's Worst Decisions, Ranked

Akatsuki has been the main villain for most of them. naruto series. The organization was mainly made up of S-class rogue ninjas who could take on Keiji or Jinchuriki. Despite the various members having their own plans, Akatsuki did almost everything right and the ninja world was permanently changed by their actions. Despite this, Akatsuki made some terrible decisions that ultimately harmed the organization.

Some of Akatsuki's worst decisions were tactical errors that unnecessarily extended the duration of the plan. Some of the organization's worst decisions have involved specific members. Akatsuki could not afford to lose a vital member in a pointless battle, and on another occasion it chose not to rescue a member despite having the resources to do so.

Orochimaru was already a member of Akatsuki when Itachi joined the organization. He didn't care about Akatsuki's ultimate goal. Instead, he joined the group to use its resources and information to advance his research. Orochimaru was originally partnered with Sasori of Red Sand, but was asked to temporarily team up with Itachi after his partner Juzo was killed. In fact, Orochimaru saw this as an opportunity to steal Itachi's body and Sharingan.

Itachi and Orochimaru were both strong enough to become Hokage, but Itachi easily defeated him with a genjutsu, cutting off his left hand in the process. Orochimaru immediately withdrew from Akatsuki, and Sasori vowed to kill him himself. For some reason, Nagato agreed to this. Akatsuki should have gone all out to hunt Orochimaru as soon as he defected. Orochimaru knew their plans, hiding places, and abilities, making them too dangerous to survive. There was no reason to leave it to Sasori, considering Zetsu and Obito could find him much faster. Since they had not yet actively captured the Tailed Beast, finding and killing Orochimaru should have been the organization's top priority.

I should have ordered Deidara not to attack Sasuke.

The only reason Deidara agreed to join Akatsuki was because Itachi embarrassingly defeated him. From that moment on, Deidara made it clear that he despised Itachi and the Uchiha clan's Sharingan. He could literally kill Itachi in the future by creating a Jutsu specifically to counter the visual abilities of the Sharingan. When news broke that Sasuke had killed Orochimaru, Deidara decided to target Itachi's younger brother to prove himself, as Orochimaru was going to be his target.

Deidara was one of the most powerful ninja of the Hidden Stone Village, but was unable to kill Sasuke and died in the attempt. Akatsuki's leadership never ordered Deidara to avoid Sasuke. Because Sasuke basically hinted at this during the meeting. The organization was in the final stages of its Jinchuriki plan and was already short on personnel due to the simultaneous defeats of Kakuzu and Hidan, so they could not afford to lose any more members. Ordering Deidara to stand down would have been the wisest tactical move. Because at that stage, it didn't make sense to put another member's life in danger because of a foolish desire for revenge.

Akatsuki should never have sent Sasuke to catch Killer B.

After Conan's defection and the deaths of Itachi and Nagato, Akatsuki was reduced to just three members. Obito took control of the organization and worked with Sasuke and his group to strengthen the numbers of the Akatsuki. Sasuke agreed to join so they could use their power to destroy the Leaf Village. Sasuke was tasked with capturing Killer B and the Eight-Tails, but this ultimately ended in failure as B switched places with his tentacles at the end of the battle.

Of course, Obito wanted to see how strong Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan was, but sending him to Killer B, one of the most powerful Jinchuriki, was the wrong move. Sasuke had never fought a perfect Jinchuriki and had never used a Mangekyo in battle before. The only reason he survived the encounter was because Karin and Jugo healed him. If Kisame and Obito had gone after Killer B instead, they would have caught him easily. Kisame was able to drain B's chakra while Obito held him with Kamui. Zetsu could have found B if he had searched the Land of Lightning, and Obito could have used his Sharingan to interrogate the Cloud ninja, like Sasuke did, to pinpoint B's location.

Akatsuki should have captured more than one tailed beast at a time.

According to Nagato, Akatsuki's goal was to capture the Tailed Beasts and use them as weapons of mass destruction to bring lasting peace to the ninja world. They didn't want to attract the attention of the five great ninja villages, so they caught each of the Tailed Beasts one by one. This was smart, but the villagers found out their motives anyway. It was also claimed that the tail trees were to be sealed inside the Gedo statue, one at a time, in a specific order. This was suppressed in the Fourth Ninja War when Madara sealed them away one after another.

just a few things naruto The characters were strong enough to beat the Tailed Beasts, and several of them were part of the Akatsuki. Since the organization had the power to capture at least four or five Tailed Beasts at a time, the plan would have been sped up considerably. They could have completed the most difficult part of the plan in a matter of weeks. Nagato was even able to personally restrain the Jinchuriki with his black rod. Capturing multiple tailed beasts would have weakened some great powers so much that they would have hired the Akatsuki to eliminate the remaining Jinchuriki anyway.

A devout follower of Jashin, Hidan was only interested in spreading death and destruction, but he was also one of the most effective members of Akatsuki. few naruto The character gained immortality, and Hidan became immortal after successfully completing some Jashin experiments. This immortality combined with his voodoo doll curse allowed him to take down high-value targets of the Jinchuriki and Akatsuki.

Hidan's body was blown away by Shikamaru in the forest of the Nara clan, and was later buried alive. For some reason, instead of searching for Hidan at his last known location, the remaining Akatsuki decided to just leave Hidan there, even though he was still alive. Either Zetsu or Obito was able to retrieve his remains, and Nagato was able to use the Naraka Path to fully repair Hidan's body. Hidan would have been very useful during Pain's attack on Leaf Village, and would have captured Killer B had he partnered with Kisame during the Five Kage Summit Arc.

Akatsuki decided not to capture Naruto as a child.

Akatsuki decided to save Naruto for last, as the Nine-Tailed Fox had too much power to seal it earlier. In theory this made sense, but tactically the Akatsuki should have captured Naruto immediately after the Chunin Exams. At the time, Naruto had not learned how to use the Nine-Tailed Fox's chakra properly, meaning he was quite weak. When Itachi and Kisame first met, it seemed like they were trying to capture Naruto, but considering the fact that Itachi was still on the side of the Leaf Village, nothing would have happened.

It ended with Naruto's defeat, and he was left alone at the bottom of the valley before Kakashi arrived. Zetsu witnessed their battle and could have caught the unconscious Naruto on the spot, but for some reason he chose not to, despite it being in Akatsuki's best interest.
