Physical copies of Living The Dream are sold out almost everywhere.

The physical edition of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is now nearly sold out across the United States. Following Resident Evil Requiem and Pokemon Pokopia, this is the third time this year that the supply of a large new physical version has failed to meet demand.

It's hard to find a physical copy of the dream come true these days.

It's been almost two weeks since Living the Dream was released, but it looks like it will be a game that grows over time. Most Switch owners won't be familiar with the original Tomodachi Life, and since Nintendo has intentionally made it difficult to share scenes and screenshots in the series' latest installment since you can basically do whatever you want, it will likely be a while before more casual gamers take notice and realize it might be the one for them.

But anyone who recognizes Living the Dream now will have a hard time finding their copy. Physical editions of the new Tomodachi Life are currently sold out at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. GameStop appears to have them in stock, but with their popularity growing and every other major retailer selling out, I can't imagine that will be the case for long.

More evidence that Living The Dream is enjoying a strong release

In Tomodachi Life Living the Dream, two miis are lying together on the grass.

While Living the Dream will take time to reach its full potential and cannot be judged solely on release week sales, we already know that it has been a huge hit in the UK. It sold significantly better than the Pokopia release in the UK, and it helped that it was originally available on the Switch, unlike the more recent hit Pokemon games, but it's still impressive.

Living the Dream and Pokopia both enjoyed the two biggest launches of 2026. This can be seen by the game temporarily selling out of physical copies. Before this year, that rarely happened. Clair Obscur: The physical version of Expedition 33 sold out shortly after release, which was not only an incredibly isolated incident at the time, but also a natural result of the game's lack of significant attention before becoming one of the biggest hits in recent history.

By 2026, physical versions of the game are selling out so frequently that they're no longer the exception, but are quickly becoming the norm. 3 games in the first 4 months of this year. This suggests two things. Firstly, studios are reducing the amount of physical games they have available as more gamers choose to buy digital copies, and secondly, those same studios are underestimating how many of us still prefer to buy physical games.
