A lot of photos have emerged from the set of A24's Elden Ring movie. We've already seen the likes of Marika and the Loathsome Dung Eater and what appears to be the streets of Leyndell filled with people and guards. Of course, fans will take a closer look at these photos to see what they can infer.
But plot details aside, some investigators seem to have figured out that some of the props used in the film originally came from other productions. Reworking and recycling old props for new movies or TV shows is pretty common, but since FromSoftware has been known to recycle entire characters for animation and even games, fans found it pretty hilarious.
Where have I seen that before?
Among the many leaked set images, fans have spotted what appears to be Leyndell Knight wearing his iconic helmet. However, the base of the helmet appears to be identical to the one worn by one of the knights in the opening episode of House of the Dragon. It appears that the prop was recycled during production by adding regalia on top.
FromSoftware fans couldn't help but find it amusing that the Elden Ring movie followed in the developer's footsteps by recycling this asset. In one comment, he joked, “I will leave the theater if there is no scene where someone opens the big door in Fromm’s famous door-opening animation.” “He doesn’t know that From is using the same skeleton animations like Demon Souls in every subsequent game they made,” said another.
So will Elden Ring cost twice as much as any A24 film ever made?
It's hard to imagine Elden Ring working without a significant budget.
At this point, fans have been looking for familiar animations and models in every new FromSoftware game, and you can be sure we'll see that happen with The Duskbloods when it finally releases. At least you don't have to worry about the movie not being faithful to the original. Another fan pointed out, “That’s why we decided to produce it to be faithful to FromSoft’s way of working.”
