at pokemon One of the most commonly found types in the world is the common type. These Pokémon can be found in grasslands, like the Hoenn-based Skitty, or near trees, like the bird Pokémon, Pidgey. For many new trainers, it's common to have at least one Normal-type Pokémon on their roster, like Bidoof or Starly. Such was the case with Ash Ketchum, who caught a wild Pidgeotto at the start of his journey.
Since meeting the new Pokémon, Ash has caught numerous other Pokémon, excluding normal types. Ash has gathered some amazing Pokémon for his entire roster, from the powerful Fire/Dark type Incineroar to the fast Grass type Sceptile. However, Ash also encountered other Normal-type Pokémon, although their numbers were very small. The Pokémon on this list range from the sleepy yet powerful Snorlax to the fast and competitive Swellow.

Ash captured a huge horde of Tauros in Kanto.
Professor Oak takes care of all the Taurus in his lab.
The original Tauros variety, often considered the male counterpart of the all-female Miltank, originated in the Kanto region. In Paldea, Wild Bull Pokémon are instead Fighting types and can be Water-type or Fire-type depending on their breed. This Pokémon is known for its hot temper, which often results in the wild Bull Pokémon's tendency to suddenly lunge. If the entire Taurus horde is enraged, they will surely be overwhelmed. Ash's roster includes a group of 30 Tauros who spend their time together under the protection of Professor Oak.
In the episode “The Legend of Dratini”, which did not air outside Asia, Ash visits the Safari Zone. Hoping to catch a variety of Pokémon, Ash instead discovers that he only catches a variety of Tauros caught in the Safari Ball he was given. The Tauros are generally considered a group, but Ash chose the lucky Tauros when the Orange League needed help. Fortunately, Tauros proved to be a helpful ally in the competition, even defeating his opponent's Venusaur.

Unfezant was the first Pokémon Ash caught on Unova.
She later grew into a loyal and helpful combatant.
In the region of Unova, the local bird, the Unfezant, has different appearances depending on the gender. Male Unfezant have mask-like feathers on their heads, while females do not, but generally have better flight abilities. The first Pokémon Ash catches in the Unova region happened to be a wild female Pidove, which later evolved into Tranquill while sending out a horde of Venipede. Later, in the episode “An Amazing Aerial Battle”, while fighting gym leader Skyla's Pokémon, Tranquill evolved into Unfezant.
As seen early on, Unfezant is a peaceful Pokémon, and when threatened it usually prefers to run away rather than fight. However, he is a very hard worker when it comes to training and fighting. In fact, she has been shown to help train other Pokémon, as was the case with Archeops, who was resurrected by Professor Juniper and Fennel. Like their trainers, Unfezant tend to be self-confident, have a strong sense of justice, and are willing to help when needed.

Staraptor really loves fighting.
Normal/Flying types have a fierce and agile fighting style.
On the initial route in the Sinnoh region, you can see several Starlies hiding in the tall grass. Because Starling Pokémon are relatively weak when fighting alone, many Starling Pokémon tend to gather together to form powerful packs. When Stari evolves, it becomes Staravia and its combat power increases. Staravia's evolved form, Staraptor, became more powerful and even gained Mega Evolution in the Mega Dimension DLC. Pokemon Legends: ZA.
The first Pokémon Ash captured in the Sinnoh region, Staraptor first debuted as a wild Starly, who often assisted Ash in scouting. However, as it evolved, Staravia grew into a much more competitive Pokémon with a passionate love for battle. In fact, Normal/Flying types are embarrassed if they don't choose to fight, but this is a trait that disappeared when they evolved into Staraptor. By the time it fully evolves, it is proficient in techniques such as Bravebird and Aerial Ace, and is very proud of the power it has achieved since its Staley days.

Swellow is a very impressive fighter.
The Swallow Pokémon is also strong against electric-type attacks.
First appearing as Taillow, Ash's Swellow has always been shown to be a very determined warrior. The Little Swallow Pokémon is a Normal/Fighting type, so it is weak to Electric-type and Rock-type moves, but it nonetheless enjoys challenging battles and is not afraid of facing such attacks. In fact, Ash knew this and allowed Taillow to engage in challenging battles. Especially after it evolves into Swellow. One such example is a fight against two Rock/Psychic type Pokemon, Tate and Liza, a battle that Swellow would win.
Swellow's unusual resistance to Electric-type moves can also make it instrumental in creating Thunder Armor, an animation-only move. While Ash battled Tate and Liza, Swellow and Pikachu teamed up to defeat the two powerful Pokémon. Therefore, Pikachu used Thunder to cloak himself and Swellow to cover himself in golden light, increasing his speed and attack power. With this unique idea, the two were able to secure Ash's victory.

Ash's Snorlax has a legendary appetite
Snorlax has incredible health and a useful Movepool.
Snorlax is a very popular Pokemon and one of the 151 creatures first introduced in Generation 1. Similar to the pre-evolution Munchlax, Snorlax loves to eat. However, Munchlax tends to be more optimistic, while Snorlax often dozes off when not eating. Snorlax's large size allows it to have abilities such as Immunity (making it immune to poison), Thick Fat (giving it great resistance to Ice-type and Fire-type moves), and even Gluttony (making it eat berries faster than normal). As seen in the animation, Snorlax is also a good swimmer.
During his time on the Orange Islands, Ash encountered the wild Snorlax that lived on the Grapefruit Islands, where they continued to eat and endanger the islands. After catching the Normal type, Snorlax became a common sight in Ash's later adventures. Snorlax may be lazy and gluttonous, but he is nonetheless a powerful combatant and loyal friend. Not only is Snorlax extremely powerful and agile, but he can also use useful skills like Body Slam, Ice Punch, and the legendary Normal-type move Hyper Beam. pokemon champion.

Pidgeot is one of Ash's oldest and most loyal friends.
Pidgeot later briefly left the team to protect other new Pokémon.
Pidgey is the first regional new Pokémon to appear in the Kanto region. It was also one of the Pokémon Ash had hoped to catch when he started his journey, but he didn't. Instead, Ash catches Pidgeotto, an evolved form of Pidgey. Unlike Ash's other Pokémon, Pidgeotto has always proven willing to fight Ash and never argues with him. During my time with Ash, the Normal/Flying type has proven to be a great fighter, frequently utilizing moves like Wing Attack or Gust.
Over time, Physiotto was used less frequently and lost its place as a primary battle Pokémon to allies like Bulbasaur and Squirtle. However, Pidgeotto later evolved into Pidgeot while fighting a violent Fearow that was harassing a group of Pidgeys. In order to take care of other bird Pokémon, Pidgeot left Ash's roster for a long time. After winning the Masters Eight tournament at the end of the original anime, Pidgeot returns to rescue Ash and Pikachu from Team Rocket. Pidgeot gladly accepted Ash's offer to rejoin the team, as the Pidgey he had been watching for so long had evolved.

Ash's Noctowl was a powerful presence in his castle (Johto) roster.
Noctowl is notable for being Ash's only shiny Pokémon.
Just like in the games, Shiny Pokémon are a rare sight in the anime. One of the most famous examples of Shiny Pokémon in anime is Metagross, owned by Steven Stone, a powerful Steel/Psychic type capable of Mega Evolution. But before Shiny Mega Metagross debuted, fans first got to know Ash's Shiny Noctowl. Once a Pokémon that Wiseman attempted to catch in a trap, Ash was able to catch the Normal/Flying-type Pokémon using traditional fighting methods thanks to Pikachu.
Like Ash's other bird Pokémon, Noctowl has proven to be an excellent scout. Noctowl has unusually powerful hypnotic skills and can even create illusions to scare or comfort other Pokémon. During his time in the Johto region, Noctoul has proven to be a clever and benevolent Pokémon with a strong sense of justice like its trainer. Noctowl later reunited with his trainer in the Sinnoh region and used his psychic-type powers once again during the Lily of the Valley Conference.
