In response to the Falmer's brutal attacks, Ysgramor returned to Atmora, gathered 500 companions, and sailed to Skyrim to fight the Falmer once more. The Companions' counterattack was so brutal that the Falmers were eventually taken underground, where they were eventually enslaved and mutated by the Dwemer. Meanwhile, the rebuilt Altmer community began expanding throughout Skyrim and Tamriel.
The history of the Atmorans is interesting in itself, but the continent from which they came is also a great mystery. Civil war and other social problems aside, Atmora became a land of eternal winter due to a strange event called the Frost Fall. Third Age exploration confirmed that the land was still cold.
