2026 was a huge year for us. Overwatch until now. It dropped the “2” from the title and introduced five new heroes, with a sixth coming soon, kicking off its first year-long storyline and refreshing its UI, breaking Steam player count records in the process. Through recent interviews and streaming Overwatch hinted that several heroes might receive reworks at some point this year.

Overwatch Confirms Multiple Hero Reworks Coming in 2026
now, Overwatch has officially confirmed this, giving players a soft roadmap with a list of heroes that will change first. In a new Director's Take blog post: Overwatch Game director Aaron Keller revealed plans to rework several heroes later this year. While he didn't reveal the exact number, he confirmed the first three heroes to receive revamped kits: Sombra, Lifeweaver, and Roadhog.
Fans who have been playing with us so far overwatch 2 It's no surprise that these three are on this list, as they've all experienced at least one rework in the past.

These three heroes have had difficult times throughout history. Overwatch This is because the kit is too powerful, underpowered, or simply inconvenient to handle. That said, this is just the first of many reworks planned for 2026. Keller confirmed. Overwatch is looking at heroes who have a “strongly defined, specific playstyle” or who “have kits that are somehow stagnant” and who “don't feel as dynamic as the new heroes.” The goal of this rework is to make these heroes flexible and easy to use. This is where player choice becomes the main factor. Fans can expect to learn something else. Overwatch Heroes have been getting a rework since Season 3.

While these reworks will not be implemented in Season 2, this update will instead bring a number of other changes. Several essential optional perks have been incorporated into the default hero kit. Overwatch Season 2, which includes Mercy's Flash Heal, Reaper's Dire Triggers, and Pharah's Drift Thrusters. Players can use these new base abilities and take a look at their replacement perks. Overwatch Season 2 begins on April 14th.
