Overwatch Season 2 Map Voting Changes Explained

Losing a game on a new or reworked map in Competitive Play will result in a smaller penalty to your rank progression.

To ensure that maps that receive some votes aren't as buried as maps that don't receive any, we've adjusted backend map freshness to ensure that player-favorite maps appear more often.
All of these changes are helpful for fans, but Competitive Play's new and reworked map Forgiveness is especially timely. There should be at least one new or reworked map each season during Reign of Talon. Japan Night is scheduled for Season 2's Antarctic Peninsula update. Overwatch We'll see a lot of use of this feature in Season 3, and at some point after that, especially in Icelandic and Atlantic ecology.
Social system and hero ban improvements planned for Overwatch in 2026
