In a live stream with former Dark Outlaw Games JC Farmer, Blundell revealed that he is starting a new studio, MagicFractal. However, little is known about the studio and its current work in progress. The company's website is essentially a placeholder with a contact form, and Blundell didn't say anything about what's going on during the live stream. As a show of support for the studio, Farmer and Blundell asked fans to follow the Magic Fractal Twitter account, which has approximately 9,300 followers as of this writing.
No projects from Dark Outlaw Studios have been announced, but Blundell confirmed that they are not working on anything related to the live service. Seeing as the project never saw the light of day, it's possible that MagicFractal will have a solid conceptual foundation to work from if Blundell can use some of Dark Outlaw's scrapped ideas. Of course, considering how litigious the gaming industry is, it's equally possible for the team to start something completely new.
While it's a shame that Dark Outlaw Studios closed in the first place, it's at least good to see Blundell continuing his work at a new studio. With the gaming industry in such difficult times, it's helpful to see promising startups able to take root, and considering the speed with which Magic Fractal's social media accounts are finding followers, gamers seem to be largely on the side of Blundell and co. With any luck, they'll be able to maintain that goodwill long enough to see the game release.
