Resident Evil 3 Remake Is Cheaper Than The Original On Steam

The original (and arguably better) Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is currently more expensive than the bigger budget remake on Steam.

For the most part, the Resident Evil remakes of the last few years have been a huge success for Capcom, which has successfully recreated some of the best games in the series and paved the way for the future. But notice how I said “generally”. Most would agree that the Resident Evil 3 remake was pretty disappointing.

Don't misunderstand. There's a lot to like about the Resident Evil 3 remake, and it's definitely a great time for anyone looking for more Resi. But compared to the beloved original, there isn't much competition. Especially since the remake leaves out so much of what fans loved about Nemesis. With that in mind, it's pretty fun to see what's happening on Steam right now.

Resi 3 Remake is only $3

Earlier this week, Capcom finally brought the original Resident Evil trilogy to Steam, nearly two years after it launched on GOG. The re-release normally sells for $7.49, but Capcom released it during the Steam Spring Sale. This means there are good discounts on all three games.

I agree with Pocopia from Resident Evil Requiem.

Pokemon Pokopia is much scarier than Resident Evil Requiem.

Requiem is scary, but the existential horror of Pocopia is infinitely scarier.

As of this writing, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is on sale for $3.74 thanks to a 50% discount. As Twitter user DeshiMarsh pointed out, the Resident Evil 3 Remake also It's included in the Spring Sale, and the whopping 90% discount applied here means it's on sale for just $2.99.

This somehow means that the much bigger budget and grander version of Resident Evil 3 will cost slightly less than the nearly 27-year-old game it's based on. Considering how most Resident Evil fans agree that RE3's original release was better than the remake, it's pretty funny to see Capcom clearly feel the same way about how cheaply they're giving away a shinier version.
