Rumors about The Last of Us 3 have been reignited after the developer previously mentioned a “future game.”

Neil Druckmann has been dropping hints about a new The Last of Us game since September of last year. He noted that there are “ongoing conversations” about The Last of Us at the studio. Recently, he shared some original concept art for TLOU and noted that there are “a few more stops along the way.”

Of course, none of this is confirmation that a new game in the series is coming soon, but the evidence appears to be mounting. Former The Last of Us Online lead Vinit Agarwal recently appeared on the Lance E. Lee Podcast in Tokyo and gave another hint about a new Last of Us game.

There may be more evidence of another TLOU game.

As GamesRadar discovered, Agarwal spoke about his experience working as a game director on the ultimately canceled The Last Of Us Online. After that, he stayed at the studio for about a year and took on the role of game director for another project. “They made me the game director for one of their future games,” he said. “I kept at it for a year, and after a year I decided, ‘No, I’m going to take the plunge. I’m going to take the risk.’”

Naughty Dog loves surprises.

The key here is what Agarwal refers to as “the game of the future.” We already know that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be helmed by Neil Druckmann, with Afarwal even calling it “Neil's game” during the interview. Of course, this project may turn out to be something else, but given how much Druckmann has talked about other TLOU games, this “future game” talk only adds to the pile of evidence.

Elsewhere in the interview, Agarwal reflected on the work he did on The Last of Us Online before it was cancelled. He stated that the game was nearly 80% complete before Naughty Dog decided to cancel it due to budget and time constraints.
