Bungie Promises Support ‘For the Long Haul’ of Marathon
Bungie has reassured fans that it will continue to support Marathon in the future as the developers release new updates to the shooter.
Get started with Bungie's patch notes. marathon An update on new movement techniques discovered by players. Basically, Bungie decided to address infinite movement, where players can either take out equipment or use a grapple to cancel the animation. marathonThief Shell to maintain momentum. The reason for making this change is that Bungie wants to cost players aggression and quick redeployment through heat buildup, additional hazards, or ability cooldowns. So the fact that this issue has none of these limitations makes it unhealthy to keep for the long-term future of the marathon.
For many, one of the biggest parts of this update is that it also affects the pinwheel area. marathonThis is an outpost map. Firstly, Tox Warden encounters, which are usually near dormitory sections, have been adjusted to reduce the number of hiding places available within the combat area, and Tox plants are more responsive to nearby players. Additionally, the final escape location appears to unintentionally spawn in the same location every time, and Bungie will likely fix this to make the final moments more tense for the remaining players.
Outpost pinwheels have also been improved, allowing players to store premium loot once inside. BUngie has not only improved the loot rewards in this area, but has also updated the encounters to match the new rewards. The hub room has new security credentials and bulletproof glass, and the destroyed wing entrance has also been reopened. Interestingly, players have noticed some additional changes in the pinwheel area of the Outpost map. While loot is being updated, players will notice that some save locations have been moved from their original locations, adding an element of freshness to Outpost runs.
Considering that marathon Death is a part of the genre that can be quite threatening to most players as it means losing all loot and items earned and equipped, and glitches or other unexpected issues can also have a negative impact. marathonThe Cryo Archive final game map fixed an issue where Runners could fall to their deaths in a section of Vault 6. Simply exploring one of Marathon's more interesting maps led to an abrupt and unfortunate ending. Likewise, anomalous waypoint activity in Dire Marsh has been fixed. This is because the event itself can sometimes appear under the map even though it should be disabled.

Developer notes: One of our core philosophies at Marathon is that rapid redeployment and attack always requires meaningful cost. That cost can be an ability charge, heat buildup, or increased risk, but it must exist and be understandable to the observer. Infinite movement is expressive and great for clips, but it's ultimately unhealthy for the pace of play we want to maintain in a marathon. We will look at future movement utilization through the same lens to set expectations early.
