The Ultimate Code Vein Gift Guide

Bandai Namco’s Code Vein is an action RPG that takes the Soulslike subgenre in its own unique direction. It mixes dystopian urban horror imagery with an anime aesthetic, and it attempts to make its action-RPG formula more versatile through the use of “Blood Codes,” which allow the player to swap between playstyles at will.

It also has social mechanics, as the player can exchange gifts with the characters at the hub for increasingly greater returns. The player can trade with Davis, Louis, Yakumo, Murasame, Mia, Coco, Io, Eva, and Jack. Each item is worth a certain number of points. Eventually, the character will allow the player to ask for gifts from them in exchange. More items will become available for viewing and purchase as the player gives more gifts.

First up is Louis, one of the central characters in the main story, who loves Faded Comics, Tomato Oden Sandwiches, and Yellowed Books but strongly dislikes Powerful Spices. Io is another central character in the story and one of the first the player meets in the game. While she hates Stuffed Toys, she has a strong affection for Curious Novelty, Local Pennants, and Tomato Oden Sandwiches. Davis is another ally of Louis that can be met early in the game, and he helps the player access the Depths. He also has a ton of things that he loves, ranging from Antique LP Records to Bugarally Dolls to Chocolate Garlic Flakes, Classic Cameras, and even Geisha Noodles. However, while he may seem like a foodie, avoid giving him Bottled Jam and plain Chocolate!

Yakumo Shinonome

Yakumo Shinonome first encounters the player in the Ruined City Center and is another early companion in the game. He loves alcohol, such as Aged Brandy and Boutique Sake, and also afored Bugarally Dolls and Sushi Tacos. Undamaged Paint Set, amongst other items, is where he draws the line, however, so avoid gifting them to him if you want to snag his Oni Bane!
