Not long ago I realized what I missed. PS4. With the PS5 now serving as my main gaming console, the previous generation system was collecting dust in the basement. As much as I've loved PS5 games over the past few years, I feel like we should go back to a simpler era before SSDs and performance modes.
Big PS4 games that haven't been released yet
The PS4 era had tremendous potential with games like these that are worth remembering, but will never be released on the older generation (if at all).
But in doing so, I decided to replay a few older games that I felt I may have misjudged, for better or worse. The following games were all divisive releases, and upon my first playthrough I was pretty firmly established in my opinion. But as I looked again, I began to understand a different perspective. It hasn't always completely changed my mind (although it has in a few cases), but I can see why people still can't completely agree with these titles.

Days Gone
I didn't like it, but I liked it more than I thought.
i played Days Gone Upon release I found it pretty unimpressive. I couldn't stand the main character, Deacon St. John. I couldn't stand any of the characters: Deacon, Boozer, Lisa, Skizzo, and even Sarah. She barely participated in the game. I put it down, but over the next few years I've heard nothing but good things about the game, especially the story behind it. In fact, I heard so many good things about it that I thought I'd give it another try someday.
As it turned out, the fans were right. At first it feels like an almost preposterous macho story, but as it progresses it reveals a heart that beats, and imagine my surprise when I realized that the heart was a character. In the end, I was completely on Deacon's side. When the buzzer was in danger, I felt it in my soul. And when Deacon told me how much he missed Sarah, I believed it. The worldview outside of the more personal stories is also great. Days Gone It does some interesting things with the zombie formula that makes me disappointed that there isn't a sequel.
death stranding
I liked it, but the first half of the game is a serious drag
It took about a year after release, but when I finally got around to playing it. death Stranding, I liked it. Of course, I understood why it was divisive. It's one of the strangest games of all time, but for me it was a transcendent, meditative experience unlike anything I'd ever seen before. I liked it so much that even after playing the sequel last summer, I still insisted that the first of the two games was my favorite.
5 reasons we love about Sam Bridges (and 5 reasons we can't stand him)
Sam Bridges is the main character of Death Stranding. There are many reasons to love that person, and there are many reasons to hate him.
Then, a few months after you receive your credit, death Stranding 2, I got the urge to deliver a package, so I booted it up. death stranding Again. Look, this is still an outstanding game in my mind, and one of the most creative uses of the medium. Now that I think about it, basically the first half of the game was really boring. It's still meditative, but after playing it death Stranding 2, In the first game, I realized how slow the progress was. It wasn't until we got to Hartman and started building a network of ziplines on the mountain that we felt truly unrivaled. death stranding I was in a Zen state, and it had been almost 20 hours.
Talos Principle
I liked it, but the endless philosophical texts are tiring.
Something similar happened Talos Principle. i finished Talos Principle 2 I went back to the first game late last year because I wanted more of a fancy puzzle design. Or rather, I decided to try a remake. The Talos Principle: Reawakening. The puzzle aspects still look fantastic and the updated visuals make a huge difference compared to the “UE4 native assets” look of the original.
Who is that character?

Easy (7.5 seconds) Medium (5.0 seconds) Hard (2.5 seconds) Eternal Death (2.5 seconds)
But after playing through the sequel's incredibly cinematic narrative with depth and full voice acting, my patience grew increasingly thin as I tried to piece together the first game's story through hundreds of chat room logs and emails shared between countless philosophical robots. The story wasn't the best part of the original game anyway, but you have to engage with it to some degree to progress, and even those brief instances completely kill the pace.
Order: 1886
I hated it, but in the end I just wanted it more.
I'll admit, I gave very little. Order: 1886 First round opportunity. I think I made it about halfway through stage 2 before putting it down. I've never been captivated by graphics alone, but I felt like that was all this game had to offer me. The shooting was mediocre, the enemy types were unremarkable, and there was still too much focus on using quick-time events to add “gameplay” to cutscenes. Following a tight release schedule in 2014, the following games were also added: The Witcher 3 On the horizon of May 2015, order It just wasn't enough to buy time.
Coming back when I could give it more time, I realized it was a meme of a miner stopping mining just before finding a rich diamond. I can't express enough how great the rear end is. Order: 1886 am. Maybe you're older and have more patience, or maybe your tastes have changed. I was loved A short time spent playing this game. My only complaint is that it's too short and there was no sequel. i will play Order: 1891 (rumored title of the planned sequel) in a heartbeat.
final fantasy 15
I liked it, but the combat is too simple.
final fantasy 15 It was the first time final fantasy The game I played when it was released. I was swept up in the hype leading up to the release and couldn't resist. And honestly, I had a great time. Visually, narratively, and just by sheer feel, this is great. final fantasy game. The main quartet of friends is made up of great characters I've loved spending time with, and Noctis' car, the Regalia, is one of my favorite open world traversal mechanics.
Needless to say, I was very surprised when I went back for a second playthrough and didn't even pass. All previous statements still hold true, but the combat is really boring. Pets are really cool the first few times you see them, but if you have to watch the same long cutscenes every time, they get boring. This gets even worse when the available minions are determined by the terrain you're on, making it really difficult to try some while always seeing others. The standard combat wasn't very good. I was able to complete an entire battle just by holding Circle and pointing in one direction. i thought Dragon Age: Inquisition It was a game where “you had to hold R2 to win” final fantasy 15 A much more serious offender.
DmC: Devil May Cry
I didn't like it, but if you think about it on its own, it's a blast.
As a big fan of the original Devil May Cry trilogy (and to some extent Devil May Cry 4), Like many of you, I am outraged by what Ninja Theory did to my son Dante. DmC: Devil May Cry. He looks like the lead singer of Simple Plan, not the demon hunter I grew up with. His face was completely wrong, he spoke like he was in the MCU, D.M.C., For all its fundamental changes, it's effectively a retelling of the first game's story, so it's not even that interesting.
What made me go back and play? I don’t have an answer to this, but I’m really glad I did. Now that you've played devil May Cry 5, that existential fear DMC It could also indicate that the future of the franchise is lost. As a standalone game in the franchise – you might even say it's a flight of fancy – it's a blast. The combat is great and some of the weapons you get later are really cool, even in this series. The same goes for really well designed bosses. One character that stands out is Bob Barabas, a demon who looks like a giant pixelated face made out of a TV screen. Ninja Theory knows how to make a solid action game, and that's no different here.
last guardian
I liked it, but Trico was so annoying.
i waited a long time The last guardian. As a big fan of both of you Eco and shadow of the colossus, Team Ico's next game was like a version of my early adulthood. Silksong: It looked amazing, was exactly what I wanted, and for many years it seemed like it would never be that way.be released When December 2016 rolled around and I suddenly had the game in my hands, I was overjoyed. I went in with a huge smile on my face and walked away with tears in my eyes. This is what playing a Team Ico game should feel like.
I always had in mind that Trico, the giant creature that accompanies the young boy protagonist, was designed to behave like a real animal, and in many ways like a pet. Because I love my pets, I was willing to put up with the kind of “cheating” necessary to get Trico to do what I wanted, such as jumping, moving to certain points, or interacting with objects. That said, after playing it again, I completely understand why this is annoying to some players. Pets can be annoying after all. Because they are living creatures with their own agency, they don't just obey commands by pressing a button, so to speak. It's one thing if that action causes you to chew your shoe, but it's another thing entirely if it directly interferes with your progress in the game you're trying to enjoy. i still love Last Guardian, But I understand why others might not.
Trick 2
I didn't like it, but Knack was really awesome.
I think Sony really believed they would have a good relationship with the Knack. He was supposed to be a new mascot, on par with Mario or Sonic, who could symbolize PlayStation beyond the games he appeared in. But Knack became a meme for a while, and that's what convinced me to give it a try. Tip 2. I laughed at it, made a little joke about it, and never played it again.
it turns out Trick 2 It's awesome. The first game I definitely wasn't very confident, Trick 2 It knows exactly what it is and it’s fun. Knack has a skill tree, ice abilities, stealth mechanics, and more. Knack's body visuals are also really impressive. This game is like Astrobot The game has lost its mind. There are so many ideas that you'll never get bored. Trick 2 It's not a long game, so all the ideas come at a mile a minute. This also means that you don't have to spend a lot of time trying it. Trick 2 There's also couch co-op, which is how I played it, and I think it's the best way to experience it.
