Despite Rockstar's strict security and permissions, massive GTA 6 gameplay footage was leaked in September 2022. Leaker Arion Kurtaj is already out on bail on hacking charges, an offense that landed him in a UK prison. However, it is reported that they smuggled in a cell phone and detonated another bomb.
According to videotechuk_(aka ben), Kurtaj claimed that GTA 6's source code actually exists but has not been leaked yet. If this is true, it means one of the most anticipated games of all time could soon be getting a cheap clone.
It is said that GTA 6 source code could soon be leaked.
“Now it's slowly spreading. Arion Kurtaj (the infamous 2022 Grand Theft Auto VI leaker) has reportedly smuggled the phone into a UK prison,” the tweet said. “I won't share screenshots of the WhatsApp chat (I'm sure they will be released soon), but Arion seemed surprised that Grand Theft Auto VI's source code wasn't leaked, and seemed to hint that the source code could potentially be in someone else's hands.”
There are a few things to consider here. First, Kurtaj reportedly relayed this information from prison via smuggled phone. This information is not easy to verify. Next, a Whatsapp message sent by Kurtaj hints that someone has the GTA 6 source code, but no screenshots have been released yet. The recreated exchange shows two users talking to the hacker, who says the GTA 6 source code is “definitely out there somewhere.” He then asked if the content had been leaked online, and after being told it had not, declined to comment.
Considering the scale of the original leak, there's a good chance the source code is in the hands of people who shouldn't have it. However, the way the story unfolds makes it difficult to confirm whether it is true or not. As for why the source code hasn't been leaked yet, if it were, it's highly likely that someone would pay a lot of money.
