For as long as Final Fantasy 9 has existed (which, for the record, has been 26 years), the rope-jumping minigame has been a source of anxiety for millions of fans around the world. There's no doubt it's a cakewalk for a few strong soldiers, but many of us have resented the rhythmic timing and overall awkwardness for decades.
One FF9 fan recently proved his skills by completing over 1,100 jumps while blindfolded. It is proof positive that it all depends on memory and precise reflexes. That means there's no difference between Vivi Ornitier's Alexandrian feat and the most recent Elden Ring challenge that arose from YouTube's algorithm.
leap and bounds
A YouTuber named ‘Play to Complete’ has most certainly made a name for himself with this video. As reported by GamesRadar, FF9's 'Hail to the King' achievement (available through the latest version of the game) requires 1,000 consecutive rope jumps. It's hard work. Trust me. Unless you have mastered the art well and truly and done it so well and perfectly that you can succeed. 1,168 Jump without using your eyes in the process.
Helldivers 2 received hundreds of negative reviews as players blamed Arrowhead for the doxxing scandal.
Helldivers 2 fans are criticizing Arrowhead after a player was doxxed for issuing a $1,000 challenge, leading to a new review bombing attempt.
Played to Completion took the input from sound and sound alone to know when to take the leap and sought out a bigger challenge, and it certainly found its place. “Reaching 1,000 steps all comes down to practice, muscle memory, a good sense of rhythm, and the ability to count in your head – as long as you don’t use a script, which helps.” fair. “I wanted to challenge myself more, bring myself closer to the madness… It really makes me appreciate things we take for granted, like our eyes.” It's also fair. Leave it to Final Fantasy 9 to lead us all into more existential musings a few years later.
FYI, you don't have to worry about accomplishments unless the accomplishment itself is actually yours. They are not mine. However, the minigame is worth completing for the tangible in-game rewards.
-
If you jump 20 times, you get 10 gil.
-
Jump 50 times to get a Cactuar card for Tetra Master.
-
Jump 100 times and you will get the Genji Card for that game.
-
Jump 200 times to get the Alexandria Card.
-
Jump 300 times to get the Tiger Racket card.
-
Jump 1,000 times to obtain the King of Jump Rope key item
great. Technically, you'll need a cool 1,000 core items to collect them all. At that point, the achievements are partial. But most of the rewards are more practical. Each Tetra Master card is a rare snag. There's only one spot in Final Fantasy 9 where you can win specific prizes for performing well in Tetra Master, and while Treno's card tournament is fun, there's nothing like the Costa del Sol performance for Queen's Blood in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but there's still a lot of satisfaction in filling out your entire 100-card collection.

Leon may be a father figure to Sherry, but that hasn't stopped most fans from shipping the pair.
