Looks like Pokemon is celebrating an anniversary Heinz Ketchup Collaboration

If it wasn't already clear enough, Pokemon is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. This means we'll be getting tons of goodies to celebrate the milestone. What I mean is, we already have a ton of merchandise, but there are already plans for even more merchandise, including a monochromatic Pikachu that Japan seems ill-prepared for.

Following the Pokemon Day streaming, popular American ketchup brand Heinz is announcing a collaboration with Pokemon. Yes, you read that correctly. It's almost certain that we'll be getting limited edition Pokemon themed ketchup bottles for the 30th anniversary.

Currently, collaboration is only announced on the Japanese Heinz account. But the American version of Heinz is no stranger to strange phenomena, including the recently released ketchup container (aka KegChup).

Either way, considering how people have behaved when it comes to Pokémon-related things in the past, there's no doubt there will be a fight or two for a bottle of ketchup and a lot of scalping.

Pokemon Leafgreen and Firered Key Art

Are Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen really worth $20 on Switch? It's complicated…

Two classic Game Boy Advance Pokemon titles are coming to Nintendo Switch.

Honestly, it wouldn't be a Pokemon release without it.

Pokemon is no stranger to strange collaborations, so ketchup is a perfect fit.

Don't forget that just over a year ago, entire packs of Campbell's Soup labeled with Pokemon quickly became a hot topic among collectors. It didn't help that the special can of 'Pewter City Special Stew' was limited to those who could find all eight cans of the regular soup.

This ketchup collaboration wasn't even the first time Heinz and Pokemon had crossed over. Pokemon pasta shapes in tomato sauce were also released in 2000, in the Blastoise variety and Charziard Red.

Heck, there was even Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Shampoo, so someone could – wait for it – catch them all. That said, this Pokémon collab isn't even the strangest achievement of all time.
