What players can do with the Githyanki Egg
The egg is located inside Creche Y'llek inside Rosyorn Monastery. After retrieving it from the mountain pools inside the hatchery, players have several ways to resolve the Githyanki egg situation.
- Give Esther the egg: Lady Esther is looking for eggs for research by the Radiance Society. You can hand over the stolen eggs for a lump sum and Lae'zel's disapproval. If you pass the skill check, you can also trick Lady Esther by giving her an owlbear egg.
- Sell your eggs: You can sell eggs easily. If Lae'zel is in your active party, you can technically pickpocket the eggs back from the vendor for a win-win scenario, although you may be disapproved of them. However, this must be done carefully.
- Ignore the eggs. There are so many paths to follow Baldur's Gate 3It's likely that some players won't encounter any eggs at all.
- Give the egg to Laezel: Players who keep the egg in Lae'zel's inventory will be in for a pleasant surprise. BG3Epilogue. Regardless of which path you take, Lae'zel will reveal that from the egg a baby Githyanki named Xan has hatched and that she is raising him.
Honestly, the Githyanki egg is a dilemma that is easy to miss and ignore. Settings, dialogue, and outcomes are limited. Since there is no “correct” answer to deduce in these situations, a Githyanki egg appears as one of the following: Baldur's Gate 3The ultimate litmus test. Ask the players quiet questions and then leave it up to them to answer.

However, in choices like the Githyanki egg, players will realize that their decisions will say more about them than their mastery of the game.
Because the system is kept quiet, the player's logic becomes the loudest voice in the room. It exposes the gap between intentions and actions and the character someone creates. Baldur's Gate 3's character creator screen and the choices you'll actually make when the game stops assigning ratings.
When Baldur's Gate 3's design philosophy shines from nothing

This design happens because the game intentionally balances responsiveness and restraint. By building a world where action is generally important, Larian Studios earns the right to design a few choices where nothing happens. This silence appears to be intentional rather than incomplete. These restrictions are consistent with the game's broader design philosophy of role-playing as an internal experience rather than a strictly mechanical system. The most memorable moments aren't always the ones with branching cutscenes or achievement pop-ups. Sometimes they are the ones who are completely against gamification. That rejection makes Githyanki eggs rare. These are the moments when the most meaningful results are not recorded in the game at all, but rather to the players.
