Valve's Steam Deck is still available in some regions, but those looking to purchase it will need to act quickly before it sells out.
Since its launch in 2022, Steam Deck has given PC gamers a way to play their favorite Steam titles on the go. The Steam Deck initially came in a variety of configurations, some offering LCD screens instead of the more expensive OLED models. However, in December 2025, Valve discontinued the Steam Deck LCD model globally, nearly four years after the handheld's launch. As of this writing, the Steam Deck LCD model is completely sold out in the US, making the OLED version the only product on the market. However, SteamDeck OLED has become much more difficult to purchase starting in early 2026.

Steam Deck is sold out across Europe
Days after the Steam Deck OLED completely sold out across the US, stock was running low in other regions as well. According to a report by GamingOnLinux, the Steam Deck OLED is currently sold out across the European Union (EU), such as Poland. EU stock availability is in line with Steam Deck stock sold out in the US, Canada, and Japan. Additionally, the Steam Deck LCD model is completely sold out across the EU and Asia, and stocks are completely depleted across North America. The news isn't all bad for consumers, though, as the Steam Deck OLED is still available in the UK through Valve and in Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan through Komodo. However, Komodo estimates that Steam Deck OLED stock in Japan could return in limited quantities by the end of February.

GameRant has confirmed that the Steam Deck is still sold out in the US at the time of this writing, but interested buyers can still add it to their wishlist to be notified when the Steam Deck comes back in stock. Valve previously stated that the ongoing RAM shortage crisis was the main reason for Steam Deck's stock shortage. The RAM shortage is being compounded by unprecedented demand for RAM, solid-state drives (SSDs), and other essential components from technology companies looking to build AI-driven data centers in the coming years. This has caused the prices of RAM, SSDs, and graphics cards to become exorbitant, with the cost of DDR5 RAM increasing to more than four times its original MSRP. Additionally, the price of graphics cards with more than 12GB of video memory, such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, has exceeded $1,000. RAM prices began to slowly decline in the second half of February, but remain steep, with the lowest price on Amazon for a 2x16GB memory kit being $370.

Of course, the lack of Steam Deck isn't the only problem facing Valve. Steam Machine, which is still scheduled for release in the first half of 2026, has encountered several setbacks during development. Valve stated that Steam Machine's price and release date have not yet been revealed due to the rising prices of RAM and SSDs. This delay also affects the release of Steam Frame and the upcoming Steam Controller. Some Steam users have since requested that Valve release the Steam Controller before the Steam Machine. This is because the Steam Controller does not utilize RAM or other components that are subject to constant shortages.
The lack of RAM and SSD may make the current console generation last longer, but customers looking to purchase the Steam Deck in certain regions may have trouble finding it at the moment. The situation may not be resolved anytime soon, but time will tell what Valve will do in the near future to meet demand.
