Newly released MMORPG game Project: Gorgon It faced numerous problems early on as the struggles of the village of Serbule became prominent among players. First released in early access in 2018, Project: Gorgon It is the work of two veterans of the MMORPG field: Eric Heimburg and Sandra Powers, known for their previous work on MMORPGs. Ashron's Call. Despite the challenges posed by funding and the passing of the Powers in 2025, developer Elder Game managed to get the game out of early access and give it a full release this month.
During its short time on the market, Project: Gorgon It was a huge success on Steam, with player numbers jumping from a few hundred during early access to over 2,000. The game promises immersive gameplay that encourages players to explore and interact with the game world rather than providing quest markers to guide the way. Project: Gorgon It looks to carve a niche in a crowded market with an old-school charm reminiscent of the early days of the MMORPG genre.
8 Best Daily MMORPGs
Daily activities and quests are a staple of many MMORPGs, but not all of them are as fun as the next title.
Project: Gorgon players are experiencing lag and frame rate drops.
to Project: Gorgon On the subreddit, several users have reported performance issues when playing in the village of Serbule. User Pemocity406 noted that after initially averaging 122 FPS across all areas of the game, he recently started averaging 28 FPS in downtown Serbule. Pemocity406 notes that he didn't change any in-game settings and that the frame drops aren't related to weather effects. That's because the game regularly reaches over 100 FPS, even when it's raining.
Another user FurlaniJr also noticed framerate drops in Serbule, so he posted his own Reddit thread to ask if other players were experiencing this issue. Meanwhile, user Demoth posted a thread describing their lag experience, noting that the game's constant freezing made enemy encounters nearly impossible and resulted in several unjust deaths. Comments in each thread indicate that server performance and hardware changes are to blame. This gives the game some leeway as it is an independently developed MMORPG.
The Elder Game may not have been aware of the genuine interest in a spiritual successor to a hugely influential figure. Ashron's CallSo the surge in player numbers caught us off guard. The team is keenly aware of the server issues we are currently experiencing. Project: GorgonCreate a second server to help offset sudden surges in players. But apparently this second server was where the majority of players migrated, which naturally led to overpopulation and its attendant problems. Nonetheless, the team is working on a third server to provide a bit more headroom while patching the issues plaguing the servers already available.
Considering the game's long initial development period and the obstacles it faced toward full release, it's impressive that developer Elder Game made it to the finish line with the project. The team is currently working hard to keep up with the game's rapidly growing player base and these lag and performance issues should not persist for long. Project: Gorgon We need to get back on track quickly and continue to carve our way as an exciting old-school MMORPG.
