Arc Raiders' success will allow developers to “live on for a long time”

Arc Raiders was one of the biggest successes to come out of 2025. There is no debate about this. It's already sold a whopping 12 million copies in just 10 weeks since release, and you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out that those kinds of sales are going to make developer Embark a lot of money.

This kind of cash injection could be life-changing for some studios, and even though Embark is owned by a large publisher in Nexon, the studios will be sitting on a ton of cash. In a recent interview with IGN, Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund commented on the game's success, with recent reports suggesting that the game grossed $75 million, which is considered a rather small amount these days.

In Arc Raiders, two raiders wander above.

“Well, you don’t have to be a math professor to realize that the game has done us well and we are incredibly satisfied with its performance from a financial perspective,” says Söderlund. “Of course it was very beneficial for us.”

If you think the Arc Raiders are difficult, it gets even worse.

It looks like Embark might strengthen some Arcs.

Söderlund gets serious for a moment and starts talking about the layoffs that have devastated the gaming industry over the past few years. He says the studio doesn't have to worry about it now, thanks to the success of Arc Raiders, and claims the game brings “stability” and “long-term security.”

“We can live off the money Arc Raiders generates for a long time, and that provides financial security and job security for the people who work there. We want to expand the studio, hire people, make more Arc Raiders, and make more The Finals. We're also working on two new games that we'll complete at some point.”

Lastly, Söderlund notes that the success of the game means that Embark can offer higher salaries and good bonuses as well, so it is certainly a rare and feel-good story to come out of the industry recently. I hope that Embark will be financially stable for a long time so that they can bring us the variety of experiences that make Arc Raiders great, while also providing us with a variety of experiences.
