Ascended Heroes is one of the most underwhelming releases in recent Pokémon TCG history. Especially if you like completing a master set that includes copies of every card. If you don't want to shell out $10,000 for the Ascended Heroes Master set, you can limit your collection to specific cards, like the best Mega Evolution in the set.
Mega Evolutions make up the bulk of the expensive cards in Ascended Heroes, but sticking to the best Mega Evolutions can help you avoid buying some of the other valuable cards. If you're limiting your collection or just curious about that beautiful SIR you picked up, you'll want to take a look at the Mega Pokémon in Ascended Heroes.
Cards are ordered based on TCGplayer market price and may change over time.

Mega Froslass ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $138.25
Mega Froslass may not be one of the most hyped characters in Pokemon Legends: ZA, but SIR (Special Illustration Rare) exploded into prominence alongside the rest of the best Mega Pokemon in Ascended Heroes. Froslass may have flown under the radar before receiving Mega Evolution, but now this card has a lot of new elements to boast about in its upgraded design.
Pokemon TCG: Most Valuable Japanese Cards of 2025
Mega Pokemon are everywhere among the best Japanese cards of 2025.
At over $100, Froslass sets an impressive standard for the rest of the Mega Pokémon in Ascended Heroes, and there are numerous competitors at both higher and lower prices for this Pokémon. The more valuable Megas are likely to maintain the lead, so we'll see which Pokemon close the gap over time.
7
Mega Meganium ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $143.98
Mega Meganium may not be the most expensive starter Pokémon in Legends: ZA, but this grass-type's exquisite work of art paints a vivid picture of this Pokémon shining in all its verdant glory. The yellow, pink, and red accents that explode throughout the scene are a perfect fit for Meganium, and despite the underwhelming level of detail, the Pokémon's design upgrades stand out.
Meganium was released for just under $150, and despite the volatility that could cause its value to fall into the low triple digits, the future of this card is bright thanks to its high level of visual appeal.
6
Mega Diancie ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $216.00
Mega Diancie is another perfect Pokémon to surround with pink accents, as the white dress and gray accents provide the perfect canvas for the pink to pop and shine as the main highlight of this Mega Diancie ex. The price of over $200 for this Mega Pokémon may sound steep, but considering the prices of other valuable cards in Ascended Heroes, it's completely reasonable.
You can expect prices to decline slightly, but assuming prices will continue their downward trend indefinitely is a risky game. To buy these cards cheaply, you need to find the right moment when they drop. Because the visual appeal of the card means the price won't drop for long.
5
Mega Feraligatr ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $236.33
Mega Feraligatr has established himself as one of the most valuable Mega Pokémon in Ascended Heroes, and has tremendous value, making it one of the most valuable Ascended Heroes cards overall. Mega Feraligatr battles Meganium and Emboar to establish itself as the most valuable starter Pokémon in Legends: ZA.
This Pokémon's striking design and eye-catching color collection makes it stand out as one of the solid choices for collectors chasing Ascended Heroes. Good luck getting this card for under $200. It may take a while for it to drop to that level, but considering the number of other cards to collect in this set, there's a very good chance it will happen.
4
Mega Dragonite ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $497.66
Now it's time for Mega Dragonite ex to make its mark. After all, it's the Pokémon that features prominently on Ascended Heroes' box art. Dragonite's Mega Evolution design caught the eye, much to the disappointment of others, but this Pokémon's TCG value is already at an all-time high, with this SIR coming in at just under $500.
Even if the price of Dragonite ex SIR drops, as most Ascended Heroes cards are expected to do, it will likely still be expensive to buy, and I'd be surprised to see this card selling for under $400. Regardless of where it ends up, this Dragonite isn't even the most valuable version of this incredible Mega Pokémon in Ascended Heroes.
3
Mega Dragonite ex (Mega Hyper Rare) – $549.00
The Mega Hyper Rare version of Dragonite ex follows a trend that started in 2025. This MHR is one of the most valuable cards released, often surpassing Special Illustration Rare in value. Although not as visually detailed as the SIR, this Mega Dragonite MHR jumps to the lead above $50.
There's no telling whether Mega Hyper Rares will hold their value compared to the SIR version, but for now, this card holds the top spot among the most expensive Mega Pokémon in Ascended Heroes.
2
Mega Charizard Y ex (Mega Hyper Rare) – $650.93
Despite Dragonite's outstanding appearance, Mega Charizard Y outshines his fellow winged Pokémon with the incredibly expensive Mega Hyper Rare. This version is much more visually impressive than Dragonite's version, thanks to the level of detail seen in Charizard's cards.

1
Mega Gengar ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $975.25
Despite Charizard's clear status as one of the best Mega Evolution Pokémon of all time, Mega Gengar's SIR stands out as the best Mega Pokémon in Ascended Heroes. If this card's mix of contrasting colors wasn't enough to grab your attention, a close look at Gengar's ferocious expression will be enough to captivate you.
Mega Gengar isn't likely to give up its title as the most valuable Mega Pokemon in Ascended Heroes anytime soon. Because it has a nearly $350 advantage over the next closest competition. Although it doesn't appear on the box art, Mega Gengar is one of the most iconic Pokémon featured in the entire Ascended Heroes set.
