Fable is back with a series reboot and a new developer. In a recent live stream, Playground gave us our best look at the game and wanted to let you know that this is first and foremost a Fable game.
However, some features that were inseparable from Fable at the time were scrapped, including having dogs follow you around and your character's appearance changing depending on your decisions. The developers at least have a pretty good reason for the latter, and some of us classic fans are excited to see this move forward. But there's another feature of the classic that we haven't seen yet, and it has some concerned. This is the Devil's Gate.
Where is the Demon Gate in the Fables reboot?
“I really miss this guy,” says Reddit user gex109. “I hope they are kept in a new fable.”
In fact, I don't think Devil's Gate has appeared in any of the footage we've seen so far. Of course, we haven't gone into any of the quests in depth so far, and the Devil's Gate requirements may be a bit more like small side quests, so perhaps Playground is holding off for now.
Gauntlets28 says, “I think considering how inherently allegorical this game is, there's basically a 0% chance there won't be one in the game.” “I think the reason it hasn’t been released yet is because we want to provide a surprise.”
Many others agree and believe it would be a great loss if they were absent. “That doesn't mean they're ignoring Demon Doors, though. They definitely know what Fable is, and the doors add a lot of value to the game without much effort,” says Samuel_Go. “They get to showcase environments you wouldn’t normally encounter and add humor to the challenges.”
If so, there may be some advantages to them not being here. First of all, this fable takes a less black-and-white approach to morality, so you'll likely want to role-play it. Now, roleplaying would be pretty tough if you were asked to marry a rando or kill an innocent person just to appease an ancient gate. Of course, the Devil's Gate is optional, but it would be hell for completionists.
