High Guard players are trying to unlock the game's platinum

It's been almost five days since Highguard launched, and things aren't looking good, but the game has quickly fallen behind other divisive titles in Steam history, especially when it comes to player numbers.

That said, fans on PlayStation are seemingly enjoying the game, or at least the possibility of earning a Platinum Trophy. As of this writing, at least 54 people hold Platinum, per PSNProfiles.

A list of 33 trophies; 20 Bronze, 7 Silver, 5 Gold and 1 Platinum are quite a feat. Whether that has something to do with the possibility that the game will eventually close, or if it's because people genuinely think Highguard is great remains to be seen.

According to PSNProfiles, the first platinum winner deserves it. It takes about 18 hours and is relatively simple.

“I never expected to go platinum, but playing with friends I realized the trophy wasn't that bad, so I kept going,” the achiever wrote on Reddit.

The number of 54 will increase in the coming days as PSNProfiles users actively recruit for “boosting sessions”. This will help you solve some of your more demanding requirements.

High guard failure is not that important

Highguard has become a talking point for the game's artistry, rather than being a generic shooter that isn't as good as Apex Legends.

While some trophy hunters are keen on boosting their platinum numbers with “easy” titles, there's another end of the spectrum that involves people handling trophies for games that aren't as good or can be removed from the list.

Just look at Concord and MindsEye to see that people love pain

About two years ago, when it was revealed that Concord was shutting down and the game would no longer be available for purchase, play, or download, people started racing towards Platinum knowing they could no longer get it.

To do so, they started figuratively committing suicide in-game because it was the fastest way to gain XP. But even so, it was only a minor increase, and those who ultimately went platinum took a significant amount of time.

Elsewhere, there was a surprising number of people chasing and earning Platinum in MindsEye, one of the worst reviewed titles of 2025. Once again, players struggled with bad gameplay to make something possible. In this case, MindsEye was not delisted. It's more of a badge of honor.

Consider the Highguard portion of that list.

After spending 10 hours with Highguard, it feels like a bad Apex Legends update.

After 10 hours, I'm not sure Highguard truly understands what he wants.
