Highguard is currently experiencing massive queues and repeatedly booting players from the game.

Well, I never thought this would happen. Highguard is currently unplayable via Steam due to the game having a large queue, and players are reporting (myself included) that once they get past the queue, the game crashes again once they complete the tutorial. Highguard currently has over 50,000 concurrent players on Steam and over 300,000 viewers on Twitch.

Despite the lack of marketing leading up to the release date, Highguard launched a major marketing push. Our writer Allyson Cochran got a chance to play the game ahead of release and said, “The rules actually apply.” So these big queues probably aren't that surprising after all.

Highguard is a free-to-play hero shooter that was first revealed at The Game Awards. It featured in the famous final slot of the show and was later confirmed to have been arranged by Geoff Keighley himself as he enjoyed the game so much. Like everyone else, I was confused about the launch, but also a little optimistic. Developed by a former Titanfall and Apex Legends developer, it puts Wildlight Entertainment in a very important place for me.

As of this writing, I'm still sitting in the high guard queue. The file size is only 18GB on PC, so it was downloadable quickly along with everyone in the world. Despite the hype growing over the past few days and a few tweets from The Game Awards official Twitter account prior to today, no one really knew what was going to happen with the release of Highguard.

So far, the game appears to be much more popular than developer Wildlight Entertainment anticipated. They went all out with their marketing efforts on Twitch, sponsoring top streamers like Shroud to play their game. however <슈라우드> As expected, there is a line in front of 30,000 spectators.

Even Shroud didn't even pre-load the game to jump the queue, saying “I had no idea there would be this much hype.” Some players have reported that they queued up to join the tutorial and that once the tutorial was completed, the game put them in a different queue. If you wanted to play high guard today, you might want to do it again later when things have calmed down a bit.

With a new Arc Raiders patch and a new season of Battlefield 6 coming in the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see whether Highguard can maintain this huge momentum over the next few days.
