If you thought 2024 was the biggest year in video games, let's say you're ready to take 2025's lunch money and then claim that 2026 is the biggest year in video games.
With Resident Evil Requiem, 007 The First Light, LEGO Batman: The Dark Knight Legacy, Wolverine, Crimson Desert and more, things are going to get really busy real quick. Even unannounced titles, indie games that have taken the world by storm, like Grand Theft Auto 6, may be delayed again.
All the games we won't hear about in 2025
Many games have been silenced over the past 12 months.
On that note, legendary Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu published a list of the most wanted games voted on by its readers, and neither Pokopia nor Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined took first place.
Here's a list compiled by My Nintendo News:
-
Pragmata – 673
-
Pokemon Pokopia – 647
-
Resident Evil Requiem (PS5) – 557
-
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined (SW2) – 514
-
Dragon Quest 7 Reconstruction (SW) – 482
-
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined (PS5) – 387
-
Persona 4 Revival (PS5) – 323
-
Tomodachi Life – 286
-
Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave – 265
-
Mario Tennis Fever – 254
Yes, you are seeing it correctly. Pragmata is the title most desired by readers. Now, it's likely that the split voting for all versions of Dragon Quest ultimately hurt its overall rankings, but that's not the case with Pokopia. that It's close to overtaking Pragmata.
Since its release, Pragmata has been generating excitement around it.
When Pragmata finally releases on April 24, it will mark the end of a nearly six-year wait. That's because Pragmata was already announced during the PlayStation 5's premiere with a 2022 window attached, so it was supposed to be released by now.
However, that did not happen, and after being postponed once until 2023, the game was eventually postponed indefinitely until the middle of that year. It wasn't until two years later, in 2025, that Pragmata was released again, this time with a 2026 release window.
Finally, last month at The Game Awards it was announced that it would be released on April 24th. For the rest of you skeptical, a demo was also released at the same time. The demo was intended to introduce the game's hacking mechanics and help Capcom avoid another Monster Hunter Wilds disaster on PC.
Nonetheless, interest in Pragmata remained constant throughout this period. Whether it was the theory that it was secretly a Mega Man game (it's not), from how the hacking mechanics would play out to what direction the story, which we still know very little about, would ultimately take, there was a level of excitement that was hard to explain.
Certainly, that's what the poll results show, and it's just as surprising.
