How to Unlock Kappn's Resort Hotel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
To unlock Kappn's Hotel, you must first meet Kappn at least once to ensure you have 'unlocked' him. To do this, you need to have KK Slider perform in your village, have unlocked Villager Services, and have a 3-star village rating to have KK Slider perform once on your island already.
Once you've done this, Isabelle will let you know that rituals are possible (read: boat tours). That means you can now head down to the docks, meet Kapp'n, board his boat, and explore the seas with him.
Once this is done, make sure you have downloaded: Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update. As long as you have this feature installed, the first time you load the game after downloading it, Isabelle will notify you that a resort hotel has opened on the docks. Now all you have to do is head to the island's dock and head inside.
Help establish a resort hotel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Once inside, none other than Tom Nook will be waiting to introduce you to Kappn's family. Before you can decorate a room to your heart's content, you'll first need to help Leilani decorate one room (almost like a tutorial).
When decorating your hotel room, you should follow the theme provided by Leilani. First, I asked them to aim for a 'beach room atmosphere'. This is very simple and shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes. If you're not sure how to best style your room to fit your theme, press right on the D-pad and use the 'Recommendations tab' to find furniture that matches your mood.
Once you're all done, use your Nook Phone to take a picture of the room, then talk to Leilani and select 'Done'.
If you use the interior design skill, you will receive 200 tickets, which can be used at the Gram shop on the right when you first enter the hotel.
