To become friends with animals in Heartopia, you'll need to find their favorite foods as well as their feeders in the wild. We break down everything you need to know so you can become friends with nature in no time! Here's how to get started with animal care and deepen your bond with your animals.
How to unlock animal care
As you progress through the main story and upgrade your Developer Guild level, you will unlock the Animal Care section of the Village Guide. This will allow you to chat with Annie and learn about the island's diverse wildlife. Each is unique, sticks to a specific area and loves their own combination of foods.

How many fish can you catch in the sea!
As part of the quest, Annie will ask you to find a deer feeder in the forest. Fill it with food from your inventory and wait a moment for the animal to eat it. This will increase your bond with your group of animals and help you refill your trough over time.
You can track troughs by finding them in your watch's Animals app, but it's a good idea to mark them on the map so you don't forget where each one is.
As your bond level increases with each group of animals, certain stats associated with that animal increase. These include the odds of an animal visiting, a successful interaction, and a gift being left in the trough.
Each group of animals also has specific interactions, from simply petting and feeding them to playing games like hide and seek. You can also unlock specific furniture for animal families as a token of friendship, so play with every animal you find!
